The one thing i find funny about this is the fact the dev has to be online on patreon at least in a limited compacity as he needs to login to pause billing each month so he could of easily made a quick proof of life/development post over there but so far its been complete radio silence on all forums.

Yea...Since he's juggling two games and diving into AI generation, he might have already abandoned the old one. But I am here waiting with hope.

This does give me hope this isn't actually abandoned though. The dev has mentioned before that he can sometimes go radio silence in order to get things done, but if he is pausing at least he is alive.

It's pretty unusual for people to go radio silent, he must get overwhelmed so he disconnects so he can focus. I really like this game a lot and I hope the dev finds the inspiration to finish it.

Also, good on him for pausing billing. A lot of devs don't do that.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but nothing to do but wait and see.

Let's hope the dev releases at least one more full update. It's a real pity if this game gets abadoned like that.

I don’t know why there are people still defending him.

Guys… he took people money, so he should be responsible for delivering, communicating, and comitting. At least communication is the minimum thing he can do.

Pausing the billing on Patreons doesn’t prove any thing. If you still think that it’s ok to go radio silent and that’s how things should work here and Patreons, like people paying and accepting the risks when donating, well, that’s your decision but not for me…

It's in the name, patreon was originally envisioned as a way for regular people to become patron of artists. That is, support them financially. It's not technically a marketplace, when you pledge to someone on Patreon you should not necessarily expect something in return. The developer has been transparent that he wanted to take a break, paused billing, and gave a target date (which admittedly he missed). He's also provided anyone who pledged $15 or more (lifetime) a key to the game. The last thing you can accuse this particular developer of is an attempt to milk patrons.

Considering that the next chapter is the second to last and supposed to be the largest, the high point of most plotlines, the peak overall and starting to resolve everything for the final chapter and epilogue, it makes sense that this takes the longest time to develop. It also abstains from splitting, so it would take longer than if its just released on one earlier half. I'd give him some slack. In exactly three months we are one year from full chapter 7, if there isn't even an update post, that would be my definition of abandoment. If you make a product available to the mass and charge for it, there is a certain expectation and etiquette to uphold to give your customers some insight and transparency. A bit of a higher standard than some random posting the first chapter of a fanfic and then leaving it.

If you take money every months, you have the moral duty to post at least once a month to inform patrons imo. But in this case, since he doesn't take money for a while, he's entitled to stop any day. The common decency would be to inform the audience if you definitely stop to develop the game though.

You guys are way too hasty to consider the game dead just because the next promised update got a delay of one month. Especially since the developer already had the incliniation to post rarely.

As said, the next update should be the largest, so it should take the longest.

One month delay? You don't realize it's more than that. That's why he paused his patreon. Because he couldn't work much on it. And now he has to be very motivated to go back to it. I don't say he won't come back, but there is more chance that he won't than he will at this point. Can't be mad since he doesn't take money
