Weekly Update - March 2nd, 2025

Oh hai, March!

Maybe you could distract yourself by playing sport. You've put in too much mental effort, you've lost your balance.

"it also managed to surprise the hell out of me at a few points!"

This has nothing to do with WWE, I was just thinking about the surprises...

Oh hai, March!

Nice to read another of your log Nine of Swords . It is pleasing to know that from your part you have done all you wanted to do for Mythos, which is a big thing. Wow must be a relaxing feeling to see nothing to do on the board and finally being a couple of steps away from getting the game out for good, so kudos for all the persistence you showed till now and expect the waiting game doesn't stretch too long and you get the approval smoothly.

Thanks for reading Dev, best wishes for ahead:)

Nine of Swords should check out Dimension 20, specifically the two seasons of Dungeons and Drag Queens, and the upcoming Titan Takedown (Greek Gods and wrestling). Sounds right up their alley.

I can't even go to the gym right now. :( After getting COVID last month, I still break down into coughing fits when I exert myself a little too much, or even if the shower gets too steamy. No big physical activity for me until that clears up... hopefully it's not permanent!

Also, I can't read that comic at all! It so smol. :O

After missing the Valentine's Day deadline, I was hoping to release Book One on the Ides of March! Sadly, it looks like that won't be the case either... both because my testers are still going over the final beta, and because I don't have nearly enough Wishlists on Steam for me to feel comfortable with the big finale.

It's relaxing, but it feels wrong! Like as I sit at my computer and feel that pressure of having to do renders or write code or something, then I look at my ClickUp board and it's just... blank. XD

I've actually seen the first season of Dungeons and Drag Queens! I didn't know the second season was out. I'm looking forward to Titan Takedown.

I was watching Fantasy High at the gym, but since I haven't been back to the gym (for the aforementioned reasons) I haven't been able to watch. I made a promise to myself that I would only watch Fantasy High at the gym so that I could motivate myself to go.

It's a shame.
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
But it's so sad you don't get enough whishlists on Steam.

Mythos, Book One Steam Demo Now Available!

For those of you who haven't tried Mythos, yet (I don't think that applies to anybody here, but...) here's a way to get a little taste.

Please don't forget to wishlist Mythos on Steam!

Already done!
I don't think I will buy it on Steam, though. And not because I already buy it on itch in addition to being a (cheap) Patreon.
But because I don't like that Steam mix accounts. I wanted one for regular games and one for adult, but I have to hide the adult games from my regular account.

Weekly Update - March 9th, 2025

The horrors persist, but so do I!

I’m still not totally sure on the final price. I was thinking $9.99 because that’s funny. Because I’m Nine. But then some other devs say I should do $12.99.

As I’ve mentioned before, Morgana and I are struggling financially, so I really wanna get this right. So I’ll just stress over that for a while.
Perhaps you could start by an attractive price of $9.99 for a short period of time, then raise it to $12.99.
Advertise that this price won't last for ever, creating a sense of urgency for the potential customer so they buy the game quick before the price raise.

To all of you on the forum thread that say I worry too much: This is a joke; please don’t yell at me!
I YELL IF I WANT!!!
:)

Anyway, that’s all I got for this week! In short: I really wanna get this done, but I don’t wanna rush it, but I also don’t wanna delay too long.
Take the time you need to get everything right.
Better to delay a bit but having a perfect product than having to fixing things afterwards.

As for the price goes, do not go for 9.99 and then increase to 12.99!
It's difficult to put a price on creativity (I write a wee bit myself and sold novellas and erotica), on one hand you worked hard, spent huge amount of hours and need money.
On a second hand, you need to create, the game is here, so what you need is to sell.
Have a look at what other sell to get an idea.
Keep in mind, that the price must be enough so after paying steam and the rest you still make a profit, while being able to offer discount from time to time on special occasions.
And lastly it's better to have plenty of small sell than a few big ones! The more you sell, the more your name shall spread, and people will look forward for your next one...
Just ask yourself, which price could lead you or anybody else to a compulsive buy... Hope it helped a bit.

I'm not an expert in trading, but according to ChatGPT:

"The cost of an indie game on Steam can vary widely depending on factors like the game's genre, scope, popularity, and the developer's pricing strategy. However, most indie games typically fall within the following price ranges:

  • Low-cost indie games: $5 - $15
Many smaller indie games, especially those with simpler mechanics or shorter playtimes, tend to be priced in this range. These are often smaller projects or experimental titles.
  • Mid-range indie games: $15 - $30
Indie games that offer more content, polish, or a deeper experience might fall into this range. They may include things like larger open-world environments, more extensive storylines, or highly developed mechanics.
  • Premium indie games: $30 - $50
A few indie games, especially ones with a very high level of polish or unique features (like "Hades" or "Hollow Knight"), can be priced higher. These games often offer a much larger scale or a more intensive development effort.

Some games also go on sale regularly (especially during Steam sales), and prices can drop significantly during those times. It's also common to see games discounted at launch for early buyers or for specific seasonal events.

In general, indie games are often more affordable than major AAA titles, but the price still depends on the scope and quality of the game."
