VN - Ren'Py - Grandma's House [Part 5 v0.75] [Moonbox]

I was gonna give Grandma's House a 2/5 score but decided eventually to give it a 3/5. It's a standard harem AVN but sadly loses its charm as the story goes on.

Pros:
+ most of the character models are fine
+ The addition of Molly the cutest dog (which is probably the reason why I decide to give the game one more star in the first place)
+ The cuteness overload of Shizuka

Cons:
- It has no PLOT. Grandma's House is specified as a Visual Novel but the story itself is pretty much negligible.
- Most of the dialogues are pretty mediocre. You have to constantly skip otherwise you will be bored to death.
- It falls into the same trope of adding more and more characters that only fulfill their usage of lewd scenes instead of actual relationship development.
- The way you enter a specific route is just ridiculous. No character development, just calling them cute/beautiful/hot and you are automatically step into the abyss.
- Oh God. The usual manwhore character of MC who gets every girl's affection instantly without any problem.
- The progression of MC's relationship with his grandma is repetitive and grindingly boring.

Overall, I only deem Grandma's House as a fap material because of its multifaceted weakness that prevents itself from becoming a better game. If you are a harem lover who loves story progression, this game will not be the one for you.

If you are looking for a wholesome romance style harem game, then you are definitely in the right place

The girls are all unique in both their looks and personalities and the story is only getting better with every update.

Would definitely recommend giving Grandma's House a playthrough. There are already hours worth of fantastic content to enjoy with a steady stream of new updates.

If there's any real issue that I have with this VN then its the inane conversations that almost bore me to death.

One of the best slow burns I have had the pleasure of experiencing. The relationships are built on trust and create a sense of belonging for each character and their role in the story. Looking forward to more updates encourage supporting MoonBox endeavors

On the plus side there are a lot of women to romance and you can choose if you want to be with them or not. The game is pretty long, but this also means there is a lot of boring text to click through. Story/concept is just the usual, nothing original. Most of the women are not overly attractive, renders are average. Nothing really exciting here.

Love the game and the characters. Even the more "wholesome" relationships enjoyable to be a part of but I am hopeful that these will turn into something more... sexual later in the story. Don't want it to end and cannot wait for more!

this story is quite the excellent one to play:
it's fun to read (had a ton of laughs on it) and the scenes are to play either.
The english is (for my opinion / capables [english is not my native language, ' cause I'm from germany]) very well written and enjoyable too.
The renders are as awsome as the mimic as well - very good looking at it!
The MC - last but not least - is a good model and not the douchebag with small / thin dick as many other there is in games - and no: I'm not gay, but this an aspect - at least for me - that counts a lot for me.
To sum it up:
this game has ALL it needs to have for playing with fun and NO boriness!
I'm on v0.12 right now and excited for more to come (hopefully more of anal-scenes; but I'm not complaining) - thanks to the dev/s for this good (understatement) game!

A quick way to summarize the game. 50% talking 30% teasing and 20% sex scenes. The character storyline is a cliché harem game with the MC having each person fall in love with him instantly. With most harem games there's a good balance of at least some resemblance of storyline development. The game started out in the beginning as a good fap material with good renders, and lots of sex scenes.

This is to be expected with so many characters in harem games less time is able to be spent on character development of these characters. However, i've noticed that one of the biggest downsides of this game is the DEV keeps introducing more and more characters each update without taking the time to really develop the storylines of the previous ones first.

This results in a bleak constant cycle of new characters and excessive amounts of random conversations and situations, that leads absolutely nowhere concerning plot development. This is normally balanced out with tons of sex scenes, but that is not the case. With each new update I have noticed there is less and less actual sex scenes and more and more teasing. You may not notice this at first, but with how many new people are introduced you would meet you would expect to have more actual sex scene content.

Nope. Constant bait and switch. This is happening more and more. If you're going to sacrifice storyline and character development to introduce as many women as possible you'll need more actual content to keep people interested in the game. Each update recently is just lots of talking. Oh you think there's a sex scene? Nope. Just cuddling with maybe taking out the MC's dick to look at and then skipping to next scene of more pointless talking, and another character the MC won't have sex with.

The formula now is just:
A. Excessive talking with little to no contribution to plot development
B. Try to distract players from this by introducing more and more characters
C. Bait players into thinking MC will have sex with characters by putting him in situations you would logically assume before pulling out the rug and returning to more talking.
D. Repeat A. through C. each update

The juice is not worth the squeeze and for how large the game is file size you would expect more content. This game is no longer even worth a quick fap. You will spend most of your time reading dry conversations with little to no plot development before getting a situation you think will be an actual sex scene after 10 minutes of just reading talking. When you get to a scene the MC will just be teased (No sex) but you think they will before returning to more talking. Each update is becoming more and more lazy with less and less content and more and more text. DEV is milking this game.

Did I just play my favorite game yet? I probably did. Here's why. (V 0.11)

Story:
As the author describes it, it's a classic homecoming story. The MC tries to restore his family ties, while meeting hot girls along the way. Although that synopsis doesn't promise much, the author manages to deliver a rich and engaging story for each of the MC's love affairs, which are optional. There are a variety of lifestyles for the characters, and each story unfolds differently from the others; from casual encounters to step by step grinding. Surprising kinks are revealed along the way, and I think there's something for everyone. If anything falls short, it is the incredible luck of the MC. I'd like to see less complacency, a little more unfortunate consequences, and a nemesis or two to add realism to the story. Sometimes it feels like the MC lives in a fantasy where nothing is going to go wrong. In short, I appreciate the author's work in adding so much content for each character. The choice elements of the game are numerous but quite simple.

Characters:
This novel has as its main focus maternal relationships. However, there is room for other kinds of corruption and even master-slave relationships. What stands out most about this game is that it has dozens of characters, but even so the variety continues to surprise as you progress. It has everything from barely legal to grannies, from skinny instructors to BBWs, different races, personalities, proportions, backgrounds... I could go on and on. I fell in love with most girls, some were nice and some were absolutely gorgeous. There was only one character I found rather ugly, but that's personal preference. The "acting" of the models is believable between gestures and poses. There is no way to get bored with so much variety.

Technical:
Although it has no animations or sound, the game surprises with the massive number of renders. As usual, these start out okay in the early stages, but improve substantially with each installment. The hot scenes in particular feature a large number of cutscenes and renders, so I think there was no need to add animations, and that would probably have slowed down the progress of the deliveries.

All in all, this is a landmark game by any standard. Congrats to the creator(s) and I can't wait to see how it will unfold.

Love this game, I eagerly wait for new content. The character development, storyline, and models are all excellent, especially the relationship between the mc and nana. Looking forward to seeing how this story unfolds.

There is a lot of characters with different personalities, but there is a common trait for all of them: they just melt, when they see MC. That might not necessarily be a bad thing, but there is too much cheese in the game. In fact, there is so much "sweetness" / "rightness", that it really made the game unplayable for me. A good story needs some struggle, some conflict, some plot, which keeps you interested. Not just everyone constantly hugging and saying only the "right" lines.
The renders / character models are mediocre at best.
The number and quality of sex scenes are ok.

Absolutely one of the best.

Pros:

• Affection of relatives/family/close friends
• There is no rush for main love interests
• Great renders and graphics
• There are many character to interact with (only few of them unavoidable)

Cons:

• There are too many character to interact with, your fav one can have smaller part in eeach update due to number of them.

Update 61 edit:
Dropping my rating to 2 stars. I was invested somewhat in the plot because the sex scenes are mid but I'm considering dropping this altogether.
At this point it's done nothing but milk the "maybe sex with Nana" bit for almost 20 updates straight and every time there's a chance for plot development some basically unneeded character pops in wanting attention suddenly.
Combo that with the updates being less than 5 minutes of actual dialogue at this point and it's getting more and more obvious the dev's just milking the game at this point

Second update in a row that had very little plot development and was just a lot of random unneeded sex scenes, and only a single day long

Pretty good take,
a lot to read through, way to many npcs, hard to keep up with all of them,
but I did really enjoy the trip, hope this game gets finishes to the end

Hyper recommended game, it has many fetishes, beautiful story (it made me cry in some parts) very fluid, slow as it should be, giving each character time to get to know them and get attached, the most alive characters I've seen in years a game, not to mention the models. It has tremendous potential both in history and in characters, I hope it continues to maintain such a good rhythm, I feel a lot of love for this game from the creator. I love it (to the game xD).

This is kind of a unique game.

It's really not impressive from a technical standpoint. Renders are anywhere between gorgeous, basic and freakishly ugly. No animations. Backgrounds and assets are placed haphazardly and without much care. The story has been seen in AVNs 100s of times. The writing isn't any more then passable.

Now that we got that out of the way, why 5 stars?

This is made with heart, and you can tell. The number and diversity of the women is enormous and you can include/exclude almost any of them instantly (except for direct family members). There are no bullshit minigames, drama or other forms of playtime padding.
If you want to turn off your brain and play a lovey dovey power fantasy, this is the game for you.

Not always in the mood for games like this, but if I am, this is a really good one.

Pretty average i guess....

I was intrigued by the premise, but it didn't really lived up to my expectations.

Cons
no animation
no music
no story
no background people or settings. There's literaly a wedding scene and there are no other people or food on the table or other people dancing, etc. Just an empty setting and this happens all the time. You go to a bar, it's empty. You go to a restaurant, it's empty. You go to a cafe, no surprise it's empty. Hell, you can even get stopped by police and jerk you off in the middle of the road on broad daylight and there's no one around. I don't know if this is because the dev is lazy or he doesn't think having a more realistic setting wouldn't add to his game, but it's definitely a turn-off.
gigantic penis. there's a difference of MC having a big dick and a comedy dick and this is the latter.
Everybody hugs MC all the time. I know he's the ladies man, but every time he says something sweet, they immediately hug him as if they never had any normal interaction in their lives. Especially the grandma. It's like a minimum of 10hugs and 3 "wipe the tears of her face" a day requirement.

Overall, this is a game for a quick fap without overthinking about it, but if you want a coherent storyline and more in-depth characters you won't enjoy it so much.

A wholesome VN that brings smiles and laughs with a MC that isn't a loser or a creep is always more than welcome and MoonBox's Grandma's House tick all the boxes right : great graphics, very good to astonishing models with a lot of variety and pretty good writing.

If you're still fond of vanilla content, give it a try, you shouldn't regret it.

I rarely rate game but this one I had to do it.

Pros: Pretty solid game. Good amount of content, can play for a while (no pun intended), nice models, perfect facial expressions, great body proportions, good story (although half way through I got bored pretty fast and just started skipping and only slow skimming bits that interested me)

Con: And with that one con is TOO much text, literally there is a lot more lore and story then actual sex in game. Although the characters got good chemistry it's still pretty boring seeing two folks talk for this long. But I know some people are into that.

Love Tanya even though we only got to see a little bit of her at the end, I would of loved a ark/lore on her.

The cop: Where do I even begin on her? she's just hot even though there was like only 2 encounters with her

Fiona: Hopefully there will be more of her in the future other than teasing.

Liz is a fine woman even with her hardships she is a very nice woman.
