Thanks but that artist's work is, in my opinion, all cosmetic and no depth.
Corruption is on surface with almost no related mechanics or meaningful interactions.
Lots of basic grinding and backtracking from no reason, from what I experienced in their earlier RPG games at least.
Love the artstyle and visible fall from grace though, just don't see them as games much.
Kind of like EDEN and Gehenna, wide as an ocean but deep as a puddle.

The current discussion in this thread has gotten me thinking about what my ideal lewd game would be, in as far as one focused on level downs, status effects, transformations, and bad endings. To start with, I know what I would absolutely NOT want it to be and can point to two specific developers and their games as examples of what I would hate.

Fucking SubSupreme and Cold Rod. Both of their latest works have taken this incredibly lazy and uninspired route for their games.

With SubSupreme, they have a very small number of bad endings and spread them out like a tiny piece of butter across a giant piece of toast. Never mind the fact that you only actually get a single still illustration for each bad ending. They work transformations into the game and gameplay, but it feels totally pointless because little to nothing happens beyond your character sprite changing and what rpg menu attacks you can select.

With Cold Rod, his games involve your character just getting hit X times by Y enemy and they you get a still illustration. Before, you'd actually see TFs in battle with stages to them, along with bad endings if you lost, but he cut all of that out for his last two games.

So I've established firmly what I don't want. I don't want a game that has barely any content while charging an absurd price, and I don't want a series of still images that remove all build up. For as mediocre as the art is in the recently released Buzama game, it at least HAS build up to the bad endings and transformations and such. Not just "You lose all your HP, here's a hard cut to a bunch of still images." It's also nice and varied, something I appreciate. Though, I think I prefer the Jessica Albert game that came out before this one, if only marginally.

So I suppose my ideal game would be similar to Odyssey of Gianna, but with hand drawn art. Also, more focused. I appreciate how ambitious that game is, but I think I'd prefer a more focused and restrained design. When you add more and more girls that can get transformed, the ability to give them all enough attention just gets increasingly difficult.
not a fan of hanaja's body 2 in 1, i'm assuming?

yeah I agree about that dev's games. a lot like gehenna. I myself may sometimes play them though because at a certain point I'll just take what I can get.

Your assessment of the game is fair. It would be nice if some levels had corruption mechanics or something.

In all fairness though, this seems to be their first game and it's not yet finished, so maybe they'll add some more impressive content in the future.

I'm admittedly happy with Bad End Collectors as long as they don't suck ass like SubSupreme games do. There being a lot of content and variety makes me happy. Part of the reason I didn't click with Witch Hunter Izana is because 90% of the bad endings were just some boring variant of "Izana and friends are now the lovers/whatever of this vampire lady and serve her" and I couldn't have given less of a fuck about that vampire beyond wanting to see Izana deus vult her ass. She was a really fucking obnoxious antagonist and not in a good way, she actively made the game less enjoyable. It also really didn't help that there were zero actual illustrations beyond the transformations themselves. Some of the transformations were extremely appealing, but, yeah, that really didn't carry the game for me. Also the balancing was ass, but now I'm just repeating that rant I did about the game in another thread.

I clicked with MatSI way more because it has actual varied bad endings and even a little bit of sex. That bimbofication ending and the ending where the party are turned into boys and seduced by a succubus... goodness, those were great bad endings. I just wish the game didn't do the whole "it was all a dream" thing and instead gave an ending narration.
there is gonna be updates to WHI btw, rn a update is in development to add some more depths to the TFs, and also adding a hard mode iirc. whatever the case, there is gonna be updates to the game, so it might fix some of your problems. key word being might.

These games are genuinely awful in my opinion. They started as these really horrible playing platformers, but at least you could get to the content easily. Then they became these poorly designed, tedious, bloated rpgmaker games. Half the reason I sing the praises of MatSI is because you can actually go through the game without wasting a bunch of time and not needing to know Japanese. Also, not really a fan of the content. It's a bit too grotesque for my tastes. His works could be pretty good if he just designed his games a little better and had options to disable urine.

A hard mode is the last thing this game needs unless they completely overall how combat works. I seriously cannot even imagine trying to play and enjoy that game on a hard difficult. The hell would hard mode even entail? Your entire party just instantly being transformed and defeated on the first turn?

It's extremely tedious to level grind and large groups of enemies dogpiling you to force transformations is basically unavoidable outside of dumb luck and just being over leveled. A hard mode would just make that problem worse.

They'd need to rebalance combat, kill their awful antagonist off halfway through the story and replace her with someone that doesn't blow, and add actual illustrations to make this game worth playing imo. No personal offense meant to the devs but I am really not a fan of WHI.

Nope! Not in the slightest. Not enough actual illustrations and scenes. Way too much tedious dungeon crawling and filler content. Losing to any generic enemy plays the exact same game over narration. The transformation states do not fix any of this.

The dev has another game coming out called Lust Knight Lisa. I plan to pirate it to see if they have stepped their game up at all or not. If so, I'll purchase it like I've purchased several of his other games. If it's a dull waste of time then that's that.

How important is the depth of the corruption/TF aspect to you all in respect to art style? I found that even if the game has 10/10 art, if it feels shallow I don't enjoy it at all - I absolutely hate it when the corruption or TF either instantly happens, or has no after effect in-game. Has anyone had any major disappointments from any games in this respect?

Most of the OGs in this thread are coming to the same conclusion. We like these types of TFs sure and want more games with them along with other weakening type games but honestly getting bored of the lack luster game depth, like philia said some have content as wide as an ocean but deep as a puddle. What I and others In this thread desire is this content but with added game play elements. Go play this demo for a game that actually adds it's erotic statue effects into it's game play.

In my opinion, Celesphonia, Kurenkisho Quolta Emerald, and the Brave Iruru games are good examples. They all have over a dozen debuffs, most of which visibly affect your character and hinder gameplay. All three games could use more physical transformations but they are what I consider the gold standard. Two of those three have great art due to them not being the developers first games but Brave Iruru has ok art at best while also having the most debuffs. Art with no substance is useless in this genre specifically because the substance IS the genre.

Game looks great - are you using MTL for translation?

It really just depends.

I'm fine with Shallow corruption/TF content if there's a lot of it and the ending scenes/narrations aren't half assed.
In depth corruption/TF content is great and all if it isn't bogged down by being too bloated and repetitive.

In my opinion:
Odyssey of Gianna is amazing because it has tons of content and depth.
Miyu and the Strange Island is good because it doesn't skimp on the content/narration and isn't a fucking slog to play through.
BUZAMA Trap Dungeon 2 is decent because it is good content wise and doesn't waste time.
Subsupreme games suck because they are bloated slogs with not enough content.
Buzama Streamers massively fucking dropped the ball. It had the potential to be great but spread itself too thin and made the scenes massively shallow.

I've learned from recent H games that a million times over I'd take games with fucking AI art or kisekae art over games with amazing art if the former has actual fucking depth.

Like, think about it. What would YOU prefer? An amazing book with mid art, or a shitty book with good art?

I heard of Gianna and thought I played it, but I was thinking of something entirely different - it looks good. I felt Buzama was really unenjoyable too - TF really means nothing to me if it's just a 2-second switcharoo.

It's a bit of a shame because Buzama Streamers really is a pretty decent game on its own. A bit low on the number of CGs, but there's still a good amount of scenes overall; it's just disappointing because Buzama 1-2 were both really good and Streamers doesn't really live up to the expectations the first two games gave.

Slime TF and succubus TF and vampire TF, woawww... High quality pixels too, seems promising.

You've not seen any demo out yet have you? OH you said in the august post, yep there it is.
Keeping my eyes on this development, thank you!
this one seems quite nice, if someone has access to the EN version of it i'd be quite happy.
