Since you are on Windows: Check the .jar file itself please and look into the properties.Thanks for the response. I reviewed your advice and double checked some things. I downloaded Java 1.8-441 x64 version, since that is the most recent available for free on Oracle. I made sure the cmd prompt looks for the Java file association "Java(TM) Platform SE Binary" just as Oracle indicates. After that, clicking on the file to open it results in it opening the file for just a second and then it immediately closes. I don't know why. I was using .jar 2.0.7 of the mod loader.
