LogDea Your review has very fair arguments, but just an FYI, you actually can save anywhere in the overworld at any time, via the Adventure Log option.
F4 is the screen size toggle. Also, if anyone has choppy frame rates, it's probably from hitting F5 on accident. Don't know why, but this game has a frame skipping option with 3 or 4 levels. Just hit F5 a few more times to fix it.

Welp. I tried to get into this game, and sunk some 30 hours in it, not just straight up playing but also just plain experimenting with its systems and whatnot...
...and the conclusion I came to at this point is that this game is not for me.
This is a JRPG with Hentai tacked on, rather than a proper H-game as I'd like to say, because the H isn't properly integrated into the game... It's present in a rather inconvenient way at the end of the day.
The game is grindy as all hell, but that's pretty normal for classic JRPGs and doesn't really bother me that much. The lack of QoL in terms of how various menus and whatnot does bother me more though. Not being able to see item stats except by checking them in the inventory is horrible design that wastes a lot of time. Not being able to see the actual qualities of monster skills and traits outside of specific conditions... It's just really, really bad.
Even with all that, I wouldn't have minded it all... but... the story isn't hooking me at all. It's clearly referencing the various Dragon Quest games in various ways, primarily through the characters and whatnot... and if you're like me and never played a DQ game in your life, there's a bunch of stuff that's just flying right over my head. The H-scenes are decent, but they're too infrequent for me to get into this game for that alone, and, again, never played any DQ games, so the fact that it's DQ characters getting fucked isn't doing anything in particular for me on its own.
The brothel system is utterly obnoxious too, and that's where the majority of the H-scenes are... except you need to have characters at high trust to throw them in there, and that takes forever to make happen... It's just... Ugh... Just not great no matter how you look at it.
I dunno. With a different story or a better integration of the H-content or some QoL stuff, I might have been hooked... While it's not a bad game aside from the massive flaws in its item management system, it's also one that doesn't click with me.
Oh well. Not the worst way I could have wasted time... Maybe I'll come back to it now and then to keep chipping away at it, but that's not very likely tbh.

It's hard to calculate how much time I actually spent on this game, since I was using Cheat Engine to speed it up during testing and editing, but as someone who sunk well over 200 hours into this game...
I gotta agree with almost everything you said. I did like the story, but the game's mechanics were disappointing for the most part.

I noticed a number of those things myself, even if I didn't get as far in the game as you did, or spend as many hours. The materials grind even for basic stuff like Steel and Silver is horrendous tbh. I'd have been all over the monster system and merging and whatnot even if most of the monsters and orbs weren't useful simply because I'm a collector at heart and 100%d Naedoko's monsters or VB Hollow's units and whatnot... but the lack of basic information makes it really obnoxious to work with.
Oh, there's one thing I forgot to bitch about, even though it's really the thing that kinda started my issues with the game... Unless I'm seriously missing something... and I might, you can't load a game without closing the game completely. Which is. Uh. Absolutely horrendous when you just want to detour for a bit and get a couple of H-scenes in the brothel then reload the save before that and keep on playing. I can tolerate limits on saving just fine. I can tolerate limits on loading too... as long as it doesn't get THIS stupid about things...
Ah, btw, someone should get a warning in the OP that for most people, you need to run the auto-updater for the patch, rather than downloading it manually and trying to override the files.
This is because the devs have some image files in there that have the exact same name for whatever damn insane reason, so if you copy-pasta, default windows behavior is to keep only one of the files in question and maybe rename the second or something, instead of getting both in.
Truly, looking into this game's files even a bit, I am honestly super impressed with how much work you put into it to get it to the state it is in now... but the devs were absolutely insane with the way they did things and there's absolutely no logical reason for a lot it tbh.
Oh well. I honestly wouldn't have gotten even as far as I did if not for your efforts. I don't even want to imagine how the game looked before your edits.
Yeah, there's no way to to do it. Apparently Dazed did modify his version while we were working on it, enabling a reset button, but I never asked him about how to set it up. It does get pretty annoying having to close and re-open the game to load.
Regarding this, I think it will work if you hit YES when it asks about overwriting that file you're referring to. But yeah, it would be ideal to run GameUpdate.bat directly.

The southwest side of the island has a spot you can land on to get to a village (I think that's Gonabee? Been a while since I've played). If you get back on your boat, hug the coast, and go north, you will find another spot that you can land on at the northwest side, which is where the flying dragon's canyon is.
Yes, if you cant pay the three(?) installments, one of the secondary girls ends up in the brothel everytime. But if my memory is correct, it ain't much of a NTR-scene, if that's what you are hoping for. It's more or less the same as if you sold them to the brothel, at best an acknowledgment in three sentences. That part of the game falls flat and feels very slapped on.
