VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Sun Breed [v1.0] [SuperWriter]

Sun Breed reflects all the expected strengths of SuperWriter’s work. I’ve played or am playing all of his offerings here, and am an avid fan. That said, Sun Breed is my favorite to date. SW found the KN format diminished and eventually ended his enjoyment creating it and so abandoned it. The outpouring of support for Sun Breed, eventually convinced him to place the game on hold until he completes one of his other projects and then to rework and continued Sun Breed as a VN. While I supported the reasons he stopped development, I couldn’t be happier with his decision to continue Sun Breed’s production. It is an excellent KN and will make an excellent VN.

The existing KN is technically proficient, has beautiful LI’s with distinct personalities. They each share a rich interaction with the MC, who is a half vampire. Two of the LI are the MC full vampire sisters, and the other two are his human friends dedicated to finding a “treatment” for his vampirism. The MC is also an investigator who looks into criminal activity where vampires may be involved. This provides for an interesting plot different from the typical vampire storylines.

The writing is solid, the plotting and overall pace are good. There is plenty of adult interaction with his sisters relatively early in the KN. This is a really well made vampire themed KN. IMHO, if that theme suits your interests, this is well worth a look, as I’m sure the reworked version will be as well.

As a disclaimer I'm not one who usually reviews games but seeing as the opportunity is there to try and help this game continue, I'll gladly try and write one.

For me, whether its adult games or regular games, the #1 component that's important to me is the story, with close 2nds being the sexual content and gameplay respectively.

Coming from that perspective I love Sun Breed because the characters are very likeable, and they are placed into a narrative that is proceeding smoothly and holistically in my opinion.

Many games—even though they may be great—usually drop certain plot points, or are not balanced in the way the story moves forward, so there always seems to be a piece missing as the game develops. This is something difficult to do well no matter what kind of medium or genre your story is in, but I feel with Sun Breed, everything is there, and I just want more of it.

The characters are all absolutely beautiful, and their relationship with the MC is a loving one. Considering this is an adult game and sexual content is to be expected, you do have plenty of that,—with love—from a couple characters, while there are a couple more that as of right now we have not had interactions of that nature with, setting up more of a slow burn with them. You can get the best of both worlds here.

The story itself is very intriguing to me. With the mystery of a world of vampires and all that entails being the centerpiece, there is a wealth of lore and plot to be consumed. Without giving away the story, the game currently feels like a power fantasy which might be "simple" but is completely enjoyable and satisfying all the same.

I love the POV aspect of the game, and wish more games would implement this view. The advantage of a game is that its not real life and we don't need the "camera man" porn angle during sex scenes, but we can be more intimate or add elements that are difficult or impossible for real life without suspending our belief too much. I personally feel more games need POV climax scenes, since that is the view that you have with your partner in real life, and it is the most intimate view to look into your partners eyes in a loving relationship, which these are.

The game runs great with no bugs that I experienced myself and the English is perfect as I assume the dev is a native speaker. The game currently sits as a kinetic novel with no choice which isn't a problem for myself, but I know it can be for many. That said, the dev said that they will be trying to go back and add choice to the story as of now, so maybe that will change in the future.

The game can improve by adding music and audio, at least for me. To be honest I didn't even realize it did not have these elements as I am an avid user of mods and especially love Koga's mods where he adds in music and sound elements whether the game has them by default or not. I personally find great enjoyment out of music in all games, adult and otherwise, so in the absence of that, it degrades the experience for me.

It can also improve with the aid of animations, but with good facial expressions, and POV view, I can live without it. They would no doubt be a positive for the game, but I'm not sure it would be worth the extra dev time here for me personally.

Sorry for anyone that read through all that, I know my ideas are not structured properly and are all over the place, but hopefully I wasn't too subjective, as I said I don't really write reviews, hehe.

TL;DR: To copy a post I made in the thread, power fantasies are great, loving relationships are great, and supernatural elements are great. Add on top of that POV, gorgeous models, and a good story to complement and I'm left just wanting more.

Rating for the game version v0.6:
For now the characters, story, and writing is really good, also the quality of the renders is above average and will probably even get better (you can see that in the other games of this developer, too). Also the girls are really hot and sexy.

This game is a kinetic novel (for me that's ok and fits to the story), but is probably be changed into a "normal" VN with choices when it's continued. The game itself is working without any known problems.

The game itself has no audio (but there's a great solution for that) and also no animations (would be great to see the girls in "action"). Also the beginning was a bit rushed for me (you kinda got kicked into the story without any background infos). Therefore a solid 4/5 for me so far with potential to get 5 stars in the future.

This game is a must play if you're a fan of the vampire/supernatural setting. and of course the Harem genre.
The game has all that you would expect from a Superwriter game, very good story and dialogues, all main characters have different personalities, but are all likeable in their own ways. The MC is not your usual 18 year old perv you see in most game these days, he is a nice and chill guy, especially with his girls, but he's a badass when he needs to be.
As of right now (01/20/2022), the game is still a Kinect Novel, but the Developer is willing to rework the game, making it a standard VN with choices.
Even if you are not a fan of Kinect Novels, i still would recommend playing the game, even if it's just to see the differences when the rework is made.

If you are a big fan of vampires and the supernatural genre then this game will hit all the right notes. Really easy to immerse yourself with the MC even though it is a kinetic novel.

Strong and badass adult MC which is still a nice guy... not your average shorta underage mc with the hypno dick.

2 hot sisters as well as 2 hot childhood friends (Not a typo we get both 'childhood friend' and real childhood friend)

All the LIs are unique and likeable which is a trademark of Superwriter (seriously i don't remember a bad LI in any of the games)

So the story is good and different, the characters are nice, the dialogue is good.


edit: stringing us along only to reveal the human sisters aren't virgins way into the game is a dick move. I don't hate non-virgins and absolutely despise getting blindsided. TMI is also something i absolutely hate.

5 stars to 1 star instantly

When I heard that this VN was going on Hold, I was kinda bummed that this particular project may not see completion.

As of right now (1-20-2022, ver. .6), the story, characters and dialogue writing is of the caliber and quality you'd expect from a project from SuperWriter.

As of right now, it's a definite 4/5 for me, I'm hoping this project gets continued because there's only a handful of vampire based VN's with a quality story and characters behind them.

For me this game has earned a 5/5 rating.

1st, the Characters:
MC is a half Vampire, with two human childhood friends and two full fledged vampire (half-)sisters. While vampires and humans don't really get along well, these people try their best in overcoming their cultural differences and even discover similarities between themselves without being bland about it.
Each of the characters has their own personality and looks, as well as motivation that drives them forward throughout the story and their interactions with MC. That means, the characters actually have some depth and personality and are not only fuckable eye-candy.

2nd, the relationships:
With Sun Breed being classified as an Incest game, obviously there is something going on between MC and his vampiric sisters. The refreshing part about this is, that they already are in a relationship with each other. This is actually a welcome change for me, as you don't have to seduce them first and try to get in their pants. You are already in there, and they want to keep you there.
Regarding the human sisters, you also have a very intimate relationship with them too, albeit not as sexual as with your own sisters. This is a welcome change too, as it doesn't force sex scenes on you without there being an understandable progress in relationship.
The speed at which the relationship between the characters progress is believable and doesn't let you feel overwhelmed by how much information gets released at once. Getting to know the characters backstory, you actually feel connected to them, like in a good book.

3rd, Graphics:
The renders are looking good, which each character having their own unique dewign. There are varied locations, which are woven well into the story.
Aditionally, and this is me being biased, but I absolutely love readheads, cuddling scenes, belly buttons and belly button piercings. So I absolutely love what I see here.

An honorable mention: I have never seen a bug in this game. No error report, no crashing for whatever reason. Maybe I got lucky, maybe this game was actually programmed well, I don't know and I honestly don't care for the reason. However, this is one of not even a handfull of games I played here where these things didn't happen, so i thought I should mention it.

So having played SuperWriters other games and enjoying them, I went into this game with an open supportive mind. The girls are all unique in their looks. It makes the game fresh and enjoyable to see girls who are not used in every game. The story flows really well, it does not force sex on you within the first bit and makes it progress naturally. The story left questions where you wonder what is going on with the protagonist and the mysteries keep you enraptured and wanting to know the answers. I wish Super a great time rewriting this game and look forward to trying the new version.

Review for game version v0.6

Good game where the MC is a half vampire with two (very sexy) full Vampire sisters and living with (cute) human childhood friends.
The game (info: so far a kinetic novel/KN) has good graphics and an interesting story and already some hot scenes with the girls, too. The writing is good (also liked the other game of this dev, Picture Perfect).

Recommend if you like (of course) Vampire games and an exiting story with hot and sexy girls.

The game normally wouldn't have caught my eye but as I noticed the author and I have enjoyed many of their other games I gave it a shot.
I am very glad I did, I love Aditi & Naja although nothing can compare with the hot little redhead, they are truly adorable and the way they interact with the main protag is very well written.

The story itself feels like it flows naturally and when you're trying to tell a story that is a major plus point. The story always felt like there was just enough information given to pull the player in further to keep them interested.

Character development is something that is handled well and progresses at a pace that feels believable. The backstories were told in such a way that you felt connected to the characters

This is one game I thoroughly enjoyed and I was rather dismayed to see the on hold tag, but I was always secretly hoping that the game would see a good ending because, in my opinion, and hopefully others too, games like this deserve the best ending.

Seems I've missed to rate this game - I'll catch up on that now.
Reviewed game version: v0.6

I really like this game. The graphics are good with nice looking girls, the characters are well done and have peronality. Even I'm normally not that into vampire storys I like it here, in general the atmosphere in the game is well done and have some exciting moments.

Technically the game has good renders, the writing is top and I there were no bugs/issues I could remember.

For me no problem, maybe for others important: no animations, and the game is a kinetic novel so far (but that maybe changes if it's continued). There is also no music in the game (if there only would be a Mod for that )

All in all, it was a great experience playing the game and I really hope it gets continued in the future.

Almost gave this one a miss cause of the KN tag, glad I didn't. This is yet another gem from SuperWriter, sure there are a lot of other vampire content but good devs can tell a story in a unique and intriguing way and that is what we have here with Sun Breed.

Characters - 5/5 - good character development and insight into their choices

Story - 3/5 - It is a good story tho unfinished, when it is will come back and change the rating accordingly

Renders - 5/5 - Im a sucker for redheads, models are done well and look great and appreciate not all are hairless

Sun Breed v0.6 Review

Overall, this is a okay game. First, the story is unique and interesting, and the supernatural setting adds to the fun. Second, the characters are great. The MC is meh though, and the girls are alright Lastly, the renders are good. They are not the best out there, but they are above average.

Game completely went to crap with the remake.

Superwriter continues to deliver in this vampire driven game. Picture Perfect is excellent and Sun Breed is, arguably, better (except for Miracle, nothing beats a Miracle! ) Take two incredibly cute and powerful vampiresses who are in a marriage with our 1/2 vampire (but trust me, he's got the best of both world's, think White Blade) who is also in a relationship with 2 incredibly hot human girls who will, inevitably, join his harem. Add a heapiing of mystery which is well thought out and well written, a nice smattering of MC being a baddass, Oh, and one of the human girls is a hot red head! (though my personal favorite is the dark haired psycho vampiress warrior girl!) It's a story that will draw you in and keep you wanting more.

1) Renders: 4/5 not up to City of Broken Dreamers, but still well done and the girls are just cute!!

2) writing: 5/5 as always the story is excellent IMO . NO Engrish here.

3) overall 5/5, would recommend. Only complaint is that there isn't enough of it and it's on hold

November 2023 [v0.10] Update

Nearly two years and a complete rewrite later... Sad to see it happen, but it's just not the game I praise below anymore--the rewrite changed a bunch of things for the worst and sucked the charm out of most of the game.

Most creators get better the more experienced they get, SuperWriter seems to be one of the few that gets worse.

Such is life.

I've gotta say, I didn't expect much going into this one, seeing as vampire stuff has been a bit over-saturated recently, but I couldn't have been happier to be wrong.
The story is great, the characters are great, the humour is exactly my type, the sex-scenes are top notch and I can't wait to see where the narrative goes next.

Really good game, with fantasy element with badass strong half vampire mc, on path to avenge his parents murder.
Characters models are great and unique looking with unique personalities,
Renders are great especially the closeups with great skin textures,
Story, storytelling and world building is good too with fantasy and mysteries elements. And also great side characters,
All in all a great game, good luck to SuperWriter for future development.

Sun Breed [v0.2]

Story = Well, the easy way to think is the movie blade with porn, and so far is really good.
Renders = Really well done renders, my favorite are the vampire sisters, but the human sister are well done too, we just need some bigger boobs and we are done.
Sound = Unfortunately, there is no music (yet) in the game.
Amount of content = The game still in the early build, so don't expect a giant game, but so far, those 2 updates have been really good, with come good amount of content.

In conclusion, is a good game, a story really well written, really good renders, so far every girl have a different personality, the mc is well written, he is a mature character (although at times he think with his dick) but so far is a really good story that you can have a lot of fun playing, and the icing on the cake is a nice developer. So if the game is this good, why i don't give 5/5? Easy, because is still in 0.2, and i will probably give 5/5 in later updates.

I could not get past the first few minutes. Some adults behaving like childs, sleeping together and "cuddling". Something with vampires who seem to be nice guys. Also akward explaining of childhood friends (here in the description it says sisters), without any patch to remedy that.

Way to bland and generic.

Gonna give this an initial rating of 4 but only because I feel like I'm not completely drawn in by the story just yet. I'm sure that will change as soon as the game progresses.

Renders are above average and the writing is pretty solid which is, weirdly enough kinda rare, since there are a decent few that have struggled with their grammar. Instead, everything flows nicely
