Things are moving full speed ahead!
The first two scenes are done, implemented into the code, and pretty much ready for testing. With this update, I realized I needed to change my workflow to improve testing and give myself more time to refine the code and fix bugs. Instead of working on the script separately, I now firstly implement dialogues directly into the code, adding images, descriptions, and potential SFX on the go. Previously, I did this in batches every few scenes—or even worse, right before release—leaving very little time for testers (and myself) to properly go through everything. That wasn't really smart.
Honestly, I often lacked motivation for coding and preferred focusing on visuals and animations. Since I’m not a professional programmer, I have to admit that coding isn’t my favorite part of developing
Race of Life. But now that I start with the code and then create the images based on it, I feel much more motivated! It also helps me fix potential bugs right away and properly set up variables, choices, and other mechanics.
Tomorrow, I’m heading off for a much-needed two-week vacation! After the release and a whole year of hard work, I really need a break. These are long-awaited holidays, and even though I’ve been taking things a bit slower since
Race of Life launched on Steam, I’m still keeping up with Joshua—he's doing his part, and I’m almost catching up to him. I’m sure there will be plenty to do when I get back.
So, I'll let you know more in about 3–4 weeks when I’m back. But for now… time to rest and recharge!
Thanks for your support, and see you soon! ❤
