RPGM - Completed - Phantom Thief Ren [v1.0.3] [Yamanashi Girl]

I quire enjoyed the previous game, Phantom Thief Effie, but man was this such a disappointment.

The best part of the game is easily the art. And what's even better is that you are not forced to play through the game to watch all the scenes, you can unlock the gallery from the start. The artstyle looks really nice, there's a lot of sex scenes, and I especially find the main character to be hot.
HOWEVER. A lot, and I do mean it, a lot of CG images are repeated. I didn't bother to count them, but there aren't much. I should take back a bit of praise for the art here I guess, because I have some issues with bosses. Each of them has a unique image: first boss is slim shady merchant, second boss is some rough bandit that has plenty of muscles on his body, fourth boss is a fat ugly bastard, and the fifth one, personal favorite, is a cool looking samurai. The problem lies in their sex scenes, they all have the exact same body type. The worst offender is the fifth boss, since he also turns into tentacles. I personally don't have anything against tentacles, but his designs just way too good to be wasted like that. I excluded the third boss, because unlike the rest, it's some sort of a beast. Another highlight would be a hot white haired lady that appears in some scenes. Not sure how to unlock her stuff, I stumbled upon her in the gallery.

The rest of the game just sucks. If the developers cut some corners, then so will I with the review. Aaccording to other reviewers it takes like 2 hours to beat the game, I didn't bother to finish it. But yeah, in about hour I made it to the third zone, so I guess it checks out. Combat is lame, extremely trivial with boring sexual assaults mid-combat.

I can't say I don't recomend the game, as the part with porn is still fine, and on this site that's almost everything that matters. And the game respects your time and allows you to unlock everything from the start. So if you liked it, might be worth it to give it a try, but don't have high expectations, especially not for the gameplay.

The only good scene of this game is when she lost to her family rival and became his wife and thats it. Other scenes are just a meh. Combat system is not that special and when you lose you just get thrown into a dungeon and walk for another 15 minutes to fight the boss again. Overall, this is a mediocre game and maybe is fit for some people, but not for me

A really good game, quite well developed, with quite a few scenes to explore. Mechanically the game is really easy, you can even say that you have to make an effort to lose a fight. The time required to complete this title is about 10 hours, so you can't complain.

i agree with previous reviewers, fights are EXTREMELY easy and it's supposed to be a "sneak" game. even the sneaking part is extremely easy. but very soon even if you get caught, enemies will do 0 dmg even if they rarely hit you, while you 1shot them with autoattack. so very braindead balance.

battlefuck is as bad as others said, 1still picture of groping, nothing happens, no progress.

but if you intentionally lose some fights, the game has some good H-scenes and scenarios. you can get into prison, and if you try to escape from there, you will have no items and 1hp 0mana, so if you get caught you will lose, and there are 3 scenes like that, i liked some of them.

and there is 1 story prisoner scene if you do bad choice then story sex-slave/prisoner gameplay ensues. i liked that a lot. that was the highlight of the game... but that is barebones low effort as well. because you cannot really escape, you will just be get caught (which is hot tbh) over and over and instead of a gameover in the end you get teleported back in time to the initial confrontation with that boss... yet you keep all your "lewdness" stat you gained from the "training" and now you unlock option to 1shot boss... so that's very stupid. breaks immersion a lot. would have been so much better if you could actually escape. w/e.

i planned to give it 4/5 but it has so many bad things... like every CG is nearly only 1 still picture. there are some with 2 frames for example blowjobs, outside of your mouth -> inside of your mouth. this repeats. tbh some of these scenes were hot. but there is a lot of repeat scenes.

the dev spent the absolute minimum amount of time to make this game. it runs decently, it has sex scenes, but everything lacks polish. but tbh it might be worth your time just for that 1 slave/prisoner story scene and some defeat scenes are hot and there are some nice scenes in town if picked "wrong" choice.

gallery immediately unlocked if you want. (and unviewed can be relocked, so that's nicely polished)

if balance would be better this could be a 4/5 or 5/5 game even. cuz boss fights have some tricks/traps to them so it has a chance for defeat (but sadly you are so strong that even if you fall into most of their traps except 1 story scene, you will still win easily) and town grope/molest scenes although a bit boring there are some with creativity and interesting sex scene. (hypnotism, tricking her, etc.)

Sorry, but after the last warning I fear that this review too is my own opinion of the game...and so I must delete what was written. I am sure the good moderators understand this....or maybe not? Who knows one says so the other .....

Garbage painted gold.

Lovely art spoiled by an excessive tendency to reuse every single asset at least 3 times, making the 40-ish scenes a realistic 6. Everything is insanely vanilla, and the corruption is downright pitiful. The game's biggest fault is its gameplay. Run through a god awful map that's far too long and engage in combat that's so easy it's utterly pointless to even include. Loot potions and money that you'll never have a real use for.

There's a """""battlefuck"""" mechanic that's an absolute joke and never should have even been included. You can even turn it off, which shows just how genuinely bad it is. It's a single still image that just works as a health and mana drain. It doesn't progress. It doesn't advance. Just one still image and 2 lines of dialogue.

This game would be 2 stars were it not for its single saving grace. A fully unlocked gallery. When I saw the gallery, and of course, unlocked it, I gave it another chance after seeing how many scenes there were. Then I played for an hour, realized my time was going to be wasted, and discovered the awful truth after looking at every single scene in the gallery. 6 primary scenes used again and again and again and again until the gallery looked far larger than it really is.

All in all, this game is just a tease that wastes your time if you decide to play it as intended. The writing is also lame and uninspired. AI could write better dialogue than this. Just a lame time waster with good art that's at least worth tucking away on your harddrive thanks to its gallery.
