thats just in theory. how is "give me 1$/3$/5$ a month or you dont get access to my game" anything but selling it ? maybe you dont buy it, you can call it a subscription fee but its definitely far from support. especially with someone like Palmer for example who even has DRM on his game.
plus im pretty sure there are games on Steam that are made with renpy. i doubt all of them are free
i dont think any devs here can sue you if you download their game and present it somewhere else as yours. but the platforms you are using to sell it to others might step in and ban you.

But, I was specifically talking about games that are given for free, you can download them for free and it's left up to the Patron to give how much of their money they want... it's not a subscription to the game it's a support to the dev to keep making the game, you dont have to give a cent and you still get the game. Some Dev's give out a copy to their supporters earlier than a public one, but ultimately you can get the game without spending a cent. So, where's the purchase here exactly?
