Yeah... People need to stop giving these guys monthly Patreon sub $. Just donate when if you want when they actually release an update. Look at how many devs for these types of games abandon their games without finishing the story, how many rush garbage endings for these games to start their next project, how many change the whole idea or sneak in things said wouldn't be in the game due to Patron demands, and how many have multiple projects running at once and take decades to finish, if at all.

I understand that people get upset when something they really like suddenly stops, that's fair.

But I can't justify to myself that working on something that isn't fun anymore is a good idea. It is super hard to keep the same level of quality as when I REALLY liked this project. The next update would just be half assed because I forced myself through it. And for what? Money? The money is nice, of course. And it gives me a boost to know that people are willing to support me. But I have a full time job. I don't need the support to survive, I do this because I love doing it.

I'm also sad about abandoning this game by the way. I was staring at my monitor for hours feeling stressed out about whether I should announce that I'm abandoning it or not. But I wanna be honest with you all. Better that then I just leave without saying anything, hoping that people won't stop donating, like some devs...

Also, Money or Morals is NOT dead. The "main" game is. I'm gonna make more content with the characters from it.
Not gonna lie, I was shocked when I saw the Abandoned tag when an update was just recently put out. This was a very enjoyable game, and I am sad to see it go.

That being said, as someone who enjoyed it for free, I am 1.) glad that you'll be continuing to develop something with the characters, and 2.) didn't disappear leaving people wondering what happened to you.

I get the supporters' disappointment, and yes, they have a right to be upset. But I also get not continuing a project that you no longer have a passion for. Even though i have put no money towards this game, I ask and hope that whatever you decide to do moving forward will justify letting this gem go. :) Cheers, and best of luck, dev.

Damn I guess I'll never see the mom character have any content :HideThePain: unless the next project has her as the same character
Not sure what the dev means by new project, if itll be a game or comic or what

Also no flame but funny seeing this project do the "release update and abandon" thing twice :KEK:

Hope the dev gets more enjoyment from their next project.

I am curious, what sort of thing does the dev enjoy doing, that this game didnt have though.

So honestly if this was your attitude you should have never charged a dime for this. Once money is involved you created a product people have expectations of. See it through or don't charge.

I've come to the mindset that until a developer finishes at least one project they should not receive a dime from me period. That way I know if the dev is committed or not. Devs that complete one project usually go on to make others. But the first one is the crucible that separates devs from hobbyists

Only problem is that makes it so they don't get enough support to work on it full time and it takes way longer, or still gets abandoned. The unserious/money grubbing devs ruin it for the good ones. Luckily we do have ones that keep working, don't milk (if a game isn't complete in 4-5 years, it's very likely milking), and eventually complete games.

Yeah, the problem with what he says in his post is that you can expect that the next project he's excited about and starts will end up the same as after time he loses his interest again. This is usually because people start projects without having the entire story plotted out and end up not knowing where they're going. You lose excitement about the work at that point.

If he continues to try projects he'll probably just leave a string of uncompleted projects in his wake as his passion diminishes over time and then quits eventually.

Is it really about "losing passion" or is it really really about not having enough backers or patrons? Because I'm guessing the latter.

then they should try something they CAN do without money vs relying on an income from a souce that doesn't get results easily. 10 years ago around when this site started up there werent a lot of games and people were throwing money. Now theres a .1 a day almost so the odds your gonna make a living doing it is slim at best.

Then there will be a lot less, or it will take a lot longer for updates. Kind of hard to do anything when working full time. Only ones in that case would be established already making money, already rich or disabled who can't work and have both time and ability. Though it would be nice to see fewer of the low effort cartoony ones.

Well thats why i dont support first time devs, its unreal how many AVNs that gets dropped halfway through.

Also those who has already supported a game like this will most likely feel shitty for paying money for something that will never get finished and it would make them feel even more shitty when reading "Also, Money or Morals is NOT dead. The "main" game is. I'm gonna make more content with the characters from it." it just dosent make much sense to drop a game to make a new game with same characters, then you might as well finish the original first, odds are any new game will be dropped yet again half way through and thats just not the way to gain any real supporters for the long runs doing multiple games.....

Doesn't really surprise me it was abandoned again.
It was already abandoned once because he "wasn't feeling it" anymore or burned out, so it was just a question of time before it was abandoned again.

The other project he abandoned this one for was also abandoned when he decided to "revive" this one, so this is now a pattern for this dev.

It's a shame because the characters were good, and the setting had potential, but it is what it is.

Good luck to the dev for the future, but only a retard would give him money knowing all this. :LUL:

Another game bites the dust, this one is sad for me as I liked it very much. Unfortunately, dev saying he lost his "passion" means he will have it hard finding support for future projects.
