Ren'Py - Completed - Mist [v1.0.3] [395games]

Mist has been an unexpectedly good experience. I've never been a big fan of visual novels and usually find myself skimming through lines of dialogue that, to me, don't matter that much. This, however, never happened with this game, it always kept me hungry for more. I am very lucky to have discovered it after its completion, otherwise I would have had a tough time waiting for the updates.

The game has a carefully crafted atmosphere, a great story and even greater characters to whom I've grown attached over the course of the game. It's pretty long, though arguably made longer by a couple of "grindy" mechanics.
The grind is mostly for "stats" and, a bit further in the story, for materials. Materials are used just a couple of times throughout the story and are requested alongside other tasks which will take more or less the time it takes the other npcs to gather said materials. Stats naturally level up going on expeditions, you just need to remember to switch your focus from time to time.
The last grind and ever present grind is the one for food. For full clarity I played my playthough on "FEAST", meaning I had pretty much unlimited food from the start, but I took notice of how the numbers went up and down. As long as you spend some stamina foraging in your expeditions and take care to harvest your crops (once you have the garden running) it should never be a problem.

One of the minor details that really struck me was the fact that the whole story is told seamlessly, not once I was able to say to myself "here starts another chapter or update", which is something that usually happens with these kinds of project.

I am by no means an expert in VNs so I'll just say that the dialogue is enjoyable and actually feels real. Characters are few, but that's by design. You gradually encounter more characters as you go along with the story but there are only about 6 of them, counting the main character. In my opinion the small cast is perfect, not only for the atmosphere and how it plays into the feeling of solitude of the first couple of hours, but also for the fact that each of them has a distinct personality. I do want to point out that, as already said by others, all the girls pretty much melt into one archetype as soon as the sex scene starts except for a couple of times. This didn't bother me that much to be honest, but I do see the point that sex scenes could have had more diverse dialogue and dynamics: something that is way more present in the start of the game with the first two girls.

All in all, Mist is a great game and a great Visual Novel. Would be a disservice to rank it anything below 5/5. Try it, play it and stay on the lookout for now projects by 395 Games.

It's pretty perfect.

I usually dislike sandboxy games, but this one does pretty much everything right.

The characters remain fun and interesting, it ticks off a decent number of fetishes. The plot is good for what it is, and the way it unravels is very pleasing. It's executed very well.

I love that the art is bespoke to the game. All scenes with Noreia are fucking awesome.

It's a fantastic game that deserves more love.

Perhaps one of the best VNs I've played.


The devs understood well the limitations of Renpy and used the engine in a very cinematic way while still allowing plenty of choices, it does that by dividing the gameplay into open world sections with cinematic cutscenes in between. The open world sections comes with a list of tasks the player need to complete before moving further into the story but also allow the player to do so at their own pace and to explore non mandatory safe areas because of that it doesn't feel railroading.

The story itself is where the game shine the brightest, it seem very basic at first but as the story progress it always manage to throw a curve ball which changes everything and peak our curiosity to know more, this makes the game a lot more engaging and I love it. Even the ending, which is usually a let down in porn games, still manage to keep the tension high and release it masterfully to a satisfying finale.

The models are simple and anime-esc in appearance, and while it isn't every one cup of tea they still look very good. The sex scenes are always animated and are sprinkled all through out the game with all four sex able characters, the game also has a gallery to visit previous sex scenes.

The game has audio, both ambient noises and music which fade in and out seamless with the scenes.

My grips:

The four characters do have different personalities but on most sex scenes they become basically the same character. That is a pity, as it could be used for more diverse sex scenes.

You do have to have sex with all four characters for the story to progress. I understand most people are in harem games but I still would prefer if it's was optional and the player could choose.

Its possible to get sex and 'bonus' scenes out of order which may break the immersion as suddenly characters which were ok with anal become reluctant or start to talk about issue long overcome.

Despite my grips, the good far outweight the bad so I still gonna give this game 5 stars. Strongly recommend.

Nice story, nice sex animations.

From the beginning to the end of the game, I felt like I was really watching a movie or experiencing the story myself. I don't know if it's a quote from somewhere else or not, but the story was very good.

It didn't captivate me enough to pay that much attention to the music and sound effects, but considering that there are games on this site that don't have any sound or music at all, I have to thank the developer.

The sex scenes and animations (fetishes) were so beautiful that I wish we could see more games like this, it would be absolutely amazing.

The duration of the game was good enough. If I had to measure it, I would say it was a bit above medium. Not too long, not too short.

I played the first game out of curiosity. I can't say that I liked it very much, it was a different experience rather than liking it. I don't understand why all men are made of mushrooms, is there a grudge against men, please forgive me developer. (A Tale of Eden)

Compared to the first game, this one was a better experience for me and I would recommend it to everyone.

You need to make a lot of actions to collect stuff & to raise stats. The claydoll graphics are not that bad, just not the best I've seen in games.
But great overall. Could've been a more exciting narrative experience without the freeplay grind & some cuts here & there; but as a 'game', rather than a VN, it's really well put together.

The premise of this game is that there's some noxious mist that's basically destroyed all males but you are the chosen one who isn't affected by it. It features harem elements with various girls of different body types and even features incest. There's a really cool exploration mechanic and food mechanic in this survival game. What makes this game absolutely unique is that if you plan your routing, you can actually reduce the amount of grind you need to do. There's a full blown story here and I'd say one of the weaker moments of writing is the random amnesia that one of the main characters has. Also, towards the end of the game, the dialogue becomes extremely cheesy. However, this game uses unique models. Based on all of this, it's worth at least trying.

Without a doubt one of the best games i've played that i've found in F95. Even if the game looked incredible already from the early stages i've maned to have enough will power to wait until it was completed.

I'm so glad i've managed, the game is absolutely incredible, story is good, animations varies incredibly from girl to girl, power ups feel earned thanks to how good the story is portrayed, but i don't think i would have appreciated it as much if i played previous versions.
One of those characters driven stories that result in captivating experiences, choice that made the game as good as it is. Made me realise how positively this choice impacts haram building games.

Loved it!

This game so far was one of the best in f95zone in terms of animations and story. Gameplay mechanics complement the story, are never grindy (and actually feels like completing the story as it barely needs much repetition as you multitask multiple quests), simple to understand and not challenging at all, but honestly just following the story that is itself not repetitive, interesting and progress at good pace without too much grind is great. You don't need a walkthrough or a cheat mod for this game, it is simple enough.

For anything that feels like "farming", use "ctrl" to accelerate already seen content or rollback from an autosave (which saves from last choices). There is no bad choice in this game, and there is no "missable" content as after finishing the game you can unlock whatever you haven't unlocked yet.

Very high quality VN. All the renders and models are well done, tons of hot scenes. Plus there is a good story and all the combat/gathering etc is all done smoothly and everything flows well. Maybe the best looking 3d VN I have played.

Great story and gameplay. The renders and animations are good as well. The character models are different and I didn't like them (though I didn't not like them) but that's just a matter of taste.

The best game i played in a long Time. I love great story and the gameplay. Its sad that the game has an end, i would love to play more of it. Maybe we get a part 2 in the future and repopulate the world ;-)

One of the best game on this site. in my opinion.
It has free roam feature that give enough player freedom with clear story progression.
It also has actual interesting game in it so you can't just press Ctrl till some scene happens.
It doesn't use generic girl model that been use 1000 times on other games. instead use unique model with unique artstyle.
And don't forget the sex scene are feels so plump, its good.

I have spend over 6 hours in this game, and I liked it. Gameplay is pretty simple but interesting as story line. H-scenes overflow with pleasure. At the end I was glad and fullfit with emotions. Recommend you to try this game, for some it may be a treasure gem.

This game sets an almost impossible standard for every other game in the genre. I'm not even kidding, there are maybe a handful of games that are in the same league. It isn't a visual novel, but it had better writing than most VNs. The characters feel like real people I'm interested to learn about. The gameplay is fun and varied. It makes you work for the...content...but not so much that it gets annoying. This was one of the first games like this I played, and that's really the only negative thing I can say about it. It sets the bar much higher than most other devs seem capable of reaching.

This game is fantastic! I found the story to be engaging and interesting all the way through. I routinely found myself wanting to find out what happens next and had a lot of trouble putting the game down. The characters are all gorgeous and likable and undergo quite a good amount of development. There are a ton of animations in this game and they're all very smooth and pleasing to look at. I really enjoyed the 3D renderer that the developer used as well. There are also a lot of sex scenes and they're all really hot.

This is a sandbox game and it's very well done. There are some light survival elements, but there is no grind whatsoever. There are even two difficulties: Scavenge, where I assume you play the game as intended and have to scavenge for food, and Feast, where you have a bunch of food and don't have to scavenge. I played on the Scavenge difficulty and didn't have any trouble at all. The developer designed the game in a way that you're always seeing meaningful content, which seems to be a rarity in erotic sandbox games. There is also a very clear quest guide so you'll never get stuck on how to progress.

With all that being said, the game isn't perfect, but my complaints are more on the nitpicky side. For example, the dialogue can be a bit awkward at times and sex scenes can get particularly wordy. Also, the characters end up all talking/sounding the same after a while. I figure both of these issues is because English is a second language for the developer so it's not that big of a deal and I can excuse it, especially because most of the dialogue in the game is well done.

Overall, even with the issues I had, I thoroughly enjoyed this game and I highly recommend playing it!

The animations look definitely good but the art is just not for me, it's weird.

The more weird thing is that i like the adventure more than the sex scenes. I don't see this as "sexual" in my head. Why the 3 stars? Just want to appreciate the hard work. I'm also sure there are other people who will enjoy this, unfortunately it's not me.

Years of being a lurker and I come out of my hole just to give this one 5 stars. Great story and game. Characters are entertaining and have actual personalities instead of your usual brainless slut. The writing was entertaining and you will feel an actual connection to the characters

Review for v1.0.3

Take Resident Evil-esque horror and combine it with an almost juvenile level of dialogue (plus a hint of anime) and you have Mist.

I'm going to mention that I held the skip button for the last 4th of the game because I found the dialogue to be kind of awful and just wanted to see the ending after a point. Take that how you will.

First, credit where credit is due. Mist has some nice renders, unique models, and really good animations. Some saving graces for sure. I'm glad this wasn't afraid to put in some threesomes and lesbian stuff. The story was actually really interesting to me as well when it focused on the horror and mystery elements. I didn't expect it to get as dark as it did. Also a very rare completed game, which I give props for despite my overall mixed feelings.

Now without a doubt, the worst thing in Mist was the MC. I feel like a broken record at this point with how many AVNs have this issue for me, but I couldn't connect with him in the slightest. A bit of a creep in the beginning and by the end I was holding the skip button whenever he spoke. The sex dialogue made me cringe with the blunt attempts at maledom. More than anything, he just really doesn't fit the role I suppose. It feels like he gets saved by plot armor more than being a competent individual.

The love interests looked good enough despite all having the same body type, but they all fell flat personality wise. Not very memorable for me. Robin could honestly be removed from the game and not much would change. It felt like the dev kinda forgot about her halfway through and only made her relevant for sex scenes. Props for a pseudo monster girl though, but even she ended up being a little underwhelming for me. I would also feel confident in saying incest was probably thrown in purely to get the attention of people who like it, because speaking as a guy who's into it, it was not done well at all. Your sister is down to fuck just as quick as all the other girls.

I typically like sandboxes, but this game did not need to be one. It puts you on rails, offers no real choices, and does very little to make the sandbox interesting. So much more could have been done with it.

I won't spoil the ending, but as I said I think plot armor carried the MC more than anything. I didn't really care for how the final confrontation was handled. The ending scenes after it were alright though. People who liked the game will probably be fine with it, but since I wasn't that invested in the characters it was whatever for me.
I think Mist's strength was that more mature and serious tone that presented itself with the plot. If more of that had been encompassed into the characters and events I think I would have liked the game more. I do think I'm in the minority with not enjoying the game as much as others, and I still think it's worth a play regardless of my issues with it. You don't get a completed experience often on this site.

Ok, this is quality. I must say I didn't want this kind of game nor did I expect one, but playing it feels great. Excellent work. Very unique and lovely style.

Who knows how many hours of gameplay, I played it for days and still haven't reached the end of the story. And there's no need to rush it. THE GAME AMTOSPHERE IS JUST ON POINT, it's perfect and it makes the game, the plot is captivating as well.

There is a li-i-ttle grind part involved, but it's like nothing, the game is really not about the grind, but the moments in between and the story in general.

And by the way, the game sound is awesome!.. H-Scenes too, they are animated, they are real good. Even if I'm kinda sad on... idk, 'interactive' part of them. Sometimes I wish there were more dialogue choices to rule out some situations (and it's kinda not good to make a choice where everything leads to one exact answer). But... doesn't really matter, now I'm just nagging.

Dev is extremely skilled and the VN is extremely good. Not sure about the 'musthave' part since it's also sort of time consuming... But yeah, I love it. Solid 5/5. Remarkable content on this site (yup, good luck finding something that's COMPLETE without a filter!).

p.s. must add, MC is really a "nice guy" (as said in other reviews), maybe not to any extreme extend though. Bearable, and remember - it's just a game =) everything will be ok for their relationships, you can always make your fantasy as well.

This story, women, and gameplay of this game are all good and keep this game from being a one star game. There is one thing about this game that made playing it such a bore and really hard to get through, and that is the MC himself. He is such a boring, stupid little bitch. I mean there's a "nice guy" MC and then there's this little pushover. Like always telling the girls it's not fair when they just want to give him a quick BJ or something cause they wouldn't be pleasured as well. Dude, grow some balls. Not every time is both parties going to be pleasured. Sometimes the man pleasures the woman and then sometimes it's the reverse. That's not a bad thing, but he's always crying and whining about how it's not fair for him to receive any kind of pleasure. He is also surprisingly arrogant and condescending in his thoughts. The women are giving him clear signals that they are into him like touching him, coming on to him, or acting nervous around him and all he can think is that they can't be into him and there's no wiggle room until they basically have to spell it out for him or jump him. Also he's really uncomfortable with even talking about sex, even after already starting relationships with the girls and them all knowing that they are having sex. You want to play a game with a prude, stupid, pushover MC that's constantly asking permission for every little movement, then this is the game for you. This game also has the double standard of it being wrong for the MC to do anything to the girls during sleep, but it being ok for the girls to touch and suck him off in sleep. I hate when devs put this in. Either it's ok to do sleep stuff or it's not. There's no difference if the guy or girls do it. I cannot stress how annoying and exaggerated the MC is in the nice guy persona.
