I don’t think so… Initially, I tried to structure the story in a way that would allow changing the blood ties between Mila and Kira, but it ends up being too restrictive. For example, there’s a scene where Mila, Kira, and the aunt have a conversation. If I change their roles and make them mother and sisters, the entire conversation immediately feels weird, if not outright awkward. Even making them just friends would make the dialogue feel a bit off.
I mean, maybe it’s possible to force it and make it work, if you really try… But for now, I’ll keep them as cousins in the first version and see how people feel about it. If the majority thinks it’s fine to change it too, I might add the option to customize it later. After all, the “as the author intended” setting will always be the default.
