Maybe it uses different materials for the face and body? Can you attach the card or give the link to it?
Yesterday installed hfpatch 1.22 . Now most of the faces look strange, but in general to play became better, except that chara maker crashes if you go into it two times in a row and by default all the cards have a mouth open, even though the slider is turned off, well, with shaders some kind of bug

The opened mouth in maker is most likely caused by sex faces plugin.

For those experiencing the climax bug/glitch (infinite orgasms that never come) go to your addon settings and check the "game enabled" box to "disable" This will fix it, another solution is disabling the plugin "KK_Pregnancy plus 7.9" with your KK manager

Alright, so I am either too dumb or too lazy to use the skin overlay function. Is there really no mod or config file I can access to increase the number of body paint options? Just gauging how much more time I should spend searching for something that doesn't seem like exists. I just wanted to add a few more than the two tattoos to some of the girls. I thought I would ask here since some of you have be playing this for years and are pros. Thanks in advance!

In Material Editor for body, you can export the whole current skin overlay. Then paint whatever and wherever you want on it (it's just a picture). And then re-import it back in.

There is no installation mod, I just have to put it somewhere. Where should I put the Optional Sideloader Modpack? And how can I change a male character to a female?

Yeah, I've watched a few tutorials on messing with the skin overlays and material editor. I spent a few hours and couldn't get it to look or work right. Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "paint" on it. I'm talking about adding tattoos. My artistry skills are not nearly that good. To give you an idea of what I mean, I attached an image. There is the "body paint" menu where you simply select the location on the body, then select the tattoo you want, and adjust the color. It's simple enough for a dummy like me to understand. I figured with all the mods that were included in this repack download, there might be more mods out there that can add more options to the "body paint" menu that is dumbed down enough for someone like me to use. I couldn't find one like that on my own. So, I figured I would ask you fine folks who probably know more about it than I do.

You can just paste an image on top of the other image - tattoo on top of a skin overlay, in this case. And do it however times you want, in any position that you want, and add any effects that you want.
For that, just use any painting/photo_manipulation app (Krita is free and open source).

You don't need to paint anything yourself if you don't want to. Just drag the image around on the new 'layer'.
The same goes for color and any other effects.

I found a solution that worked for me. Figured I would share in case anyone else is interested. I added about 8 or so tattoos to a girl I was making without using any other software. I searched on the Koikatsu! discord for more body paint, and found a response:

"use the body paints then go to body -> general -> material editor and find MainTex then export the texture to get the whole body texture, which includes the body paints then slap that texture in skin overlays in the same body menu and you now have a body that already has those 2 body paints, which means those 2 body paint slots are now available for you to use again. you can repeat the same process to practically get an infinite amount of body paint"

Some things I would add to these instructions:

Before you do anything with the main textures, save your character with no body paint. Then apply your first body paint. Then change the skin color as white as you can make it. Then you can export the main texture under material editor. I noticed that if I leave the skin color anything but white, when I go to add the texture later, it makes the skin darker. Might not be an issue for you, but if you add a few layers it might mess with your skin tone.

When you export to the main texture folder, I copied the file (right click, copy; or ctrl +c). I found it easier to paste that file into the skin overlay folder when selecting it later. When you go select from the skin overlay menu, use the bottom option for body underlay (not overlay). I added some images that might help.

It's not as an intuitive as just selecting a body part and tattoo from a drop down menu, but it's gotten easier for me the more I do it. I hope I explained this process enough to help. I'll check my notifications on here if anyone has questions or needs more help.

There are a few ways to do that. One is to make your own with the template and the other is to set several different tattoos and "cut out" the other section of an exported MainTex to one with both. I cant show every step with screenshots but I have a few quick examples I did with paint.net, but the prosses is the same with any image editor I'd assume. As far as I know there is no mod for it but I could be wrong.

The first one is to get the overlay template from the option at the top of the general tab. That will export a wire mech png that you "draw" on top of. Then you just de-select the wire mesh layer and save the others as a png that you then add to the overlay as you would any other.

As for the MainTex, you can use both paint slots however you like and then in material editor you can export the MainTex, the clear the paint slots and use whatever you like again and export that one. Then in your image editor you cut out the section of the top layer where the other paints are to make a MainTex with both. Then import the new one. The MainTex will have an asterisk to show it has changed then save the character as a new card. It's a lot more involved.

Hi, Skelton. Thanks for the reply. As they say, there's more than one way to skin a cat. I hate that saying, I love cats and couldn't imagine being without my two furballs. Anyways...yeah, there's more than one way to do this. The way I did it explained just above your comment, you don't have to use an image editor at all. Everything else you mentioned sounds about how I was doing it though. I just sort of skipped the step with the image editor. If there are modders out there...it would just be easier if there was a config file or some way of adding more body paint slots. Somewhere in the bowels of the packaged Unity files there is some code on some file that tells the game to add these two slots. If I knew how to access that file and change that value, this whole process would be soooo much easier.

You know, the more time I spend on this website, the more I wish had taken a different major in college. I had to go for a stupid electrical engineering degree instead of software engineering where I could be making dirty games and looking at cartoon boobies instead of wire harness drawings ;)
