What no pussy-face hugging alien creature things. I am shocked and little disappointed, tbh.

Yeah I am using crossover. Thanks for the information to download the windows fonts appreciate it!
The video problem seems pretty hard to solve. The issue lies in the game using some weird video codec that is included in Windows Media Foundation that is only half-supported in Wine. Unity logs show that it asks you to install Windows Media Feature Pack to allow playing video.
There's an ancient repo that might or might not work now (doesn't work for me because Media Foundation from Windows conflicts with Wine's own libraries, but might work on a fresh wineprefix).

I really wish the dev focused on improving what's already in the game, like dealing with all the bugs, adding some sort of in-game guide, or adding a functioning save system instead of random autosaves every time you sleep that only works half the time, instead of adding a single room with a single enemy with two new scenes.

Do you use Wine on Linux by chance? The issues you're having with menu (black lines) lacking text can be solved by installing Windows fonts (e.g. via winetricks corefonts), as for the game freezing while interacting with people or mobs, thats some common Unity issue with playing videos I havent figured out yet myself. I think its because Unity uses proprietary texture drivers like S3TC when making in-game animated "videos" that Linux distros started including only recently and not in all variants (wikipedia says that there are 9? 10? different S3TC variants), and I suspect Unity uses one such variant that causes troubles.
Not sure if this has gotten worse.
I have installed corefonts in my prefix. It runs smoothly apart from the fact that it has a black screen for 10+ min when pressing "begin" and I cannot see any of the videos.

Lutris run time with wine does bring some more insightful logs that occur when pushing the "play" button.

Proton GE fork works perfectly, but that means launching the game through steam...
Proto GE Freezes, crashes, and has several graphical issues too. :/

First log looks like an issue with graphics drivers. I had similar but it was easily fixed with "winetricks dxvk vkd3d" (I use AMD GPU and there were some issues with using AMD drivers in wine in any way but through Vulkan). Second one I'm not sure. I am not using GStreamer at all.
Anyway instead of looking only at Wine's logs I suggest you to look at your game's logs as well. Inure's logs are at (assuming default configuration WINEPREFIX) ~/.wine/drive_c/users/(your username)/AppData/LocalLow/Inure/inure/Player.log.

is there even a save or an editor for this to make it easier to even see the endings? because wow... this is a pain to run over each update.

Wow the animations on this one are bad
And yet, they're encoded in a 1920x1080 (Full HD) resolution. In fact each video seems to be duplicated in 4 different formats, all Full HD but in different chroma subsampling schemes (intended to save space) which is why the game is almost 5Gb.

I was always editing it (it's online save editor); I think I actually learned about it from someone on this thread, but can't remember anymore, it was too long ago.

Variables names aren't in English, but it's easy to guess what they do by comparing to fresh save you load for editing. You can edit your current and max health, current energy level (how long it would take till you get hungry), power level (how good you jump and how much damage you deal; don't set too high value, it may glitch the game out if you clip through the ceiling, learnt the hard way) and which keys and abilities you start with, plus some other things I chose not to mess with.

should i download? seeing a lot of mixed messages
Well, you may give it a try, just be aware that (a) it's extremely weird and at times, messed up; and (b), whatever cham this game has, is of "so-bad-it's-good" kind. Threat it as B-movie horror from the world of porn games.

But, for the sake of your sanity, I strongly suggest to not even bother playing it fairly without editing your save, it's not stable enough for that.

Same getting near soft (sound and if I move mouse very jerky bits of video is seen) lock on video plays but can not do much more and B|Cancel does not do anything.

What would equivalent too the "winetricks dxvk vkd3d" on linux, for windows to force vulkan to render video?

You know you can run Wine on Windows too via WSL? People use it to run old (as in Windows 95 old) games that dont run on Windows 10.

Yes I know, but I have found it to be unreliable for use in any win os above 7 and as I use above 7. I do not have currently installed.
