Well having played through the current content up to current update conclusion I gotta say I generally like this game pretty decently. Gives you a pretty good amount of agency, isn't fuck all ugly, music is usually a miss but that is personal taste at the end of the day. I can sing its praises for a decent bit but this recent episode was kinda a stumble, I was expecting a sob story given the whole fake smile thing, hanging off the side of the bridge, etc.
But erm the sad little story, basically invoked nothing, I mean I didn't mind the initial first bit portion mostly, it was relatively inoffensive but that second bit, holy shit. Its not the scenario thing mind you, it was the incredulity in which I found myself. Again not to shit on the Dev or anything but considering she was a child, a starving, old enough to talk, obviously big enough to attend school child...well let's just say whether this is set some rendition of a fictional America or Europe or whatever, why was no other adult besides the homeless guy and the mother actually involved? Having seen a fair bit of that, I can assert with some degree of conviction that, whether a teacher wants to involve themselves or no, the penalties for not doing so(once it comes out you knew and didn't I mean) essentially force their hand.
Obviously thought about it too much, I get that but yeah it kinda just fell apart for me once I realized it was putting emotional story beats over coherent and rational storytelling.
Anywho the shower scene was really good with all the variations, really looking forward to more of that~
