Use urm like in other post if you lazy or if you not use map tiles and reroll option for easy encounter. Avoid taking boss higher than you in 5+ level above otherwise you need lot health potion.

The insane useless grind of this game simply made me use urm to instantly level up after 1 fight.
I strongly advice to do the same because this game is buggy at hell.

Man I don't even know how to get to level 2. All I have are these level 1 massage quests that give no xp

you gotta complete that spa thingy. after that, just check for every character and complete their tasks. in doing so, the dungeon will open up. from there on you will gain xp and level up. A 'level bar' will show up on top left corner of the screen too.
