It was Summer and Jason freaking out because the guy helping them sneezed and decided to act purely on instinct and run off into the woods. Why? Drama. That's the only narrative reason.
I'm not disagreeing about the plot twists and seemingly unconnected stuff going on, but I think you might have missed a bit on this point. There were more reasons than the sneeze.

Summer found a knife with fresh blood in the car. MC saw what looked like a body hiding under a blanket, moving, so likely not a dead body.

I think bolting is a perfectly natural reaction in the situation.

That's fair since I didn't add a lot of context, so I'll try and flesh it out a bit.

Ultimately, the dev just needs to sit down and focus on one idea: one narrative throughline with one mystery that allows the MC to have a justification to be in this area and interact with these very unlikeable people (Alice is currently excluded from that count, but she may be a cannibal for all we know.). Right now, it doesn't have that and the single character that you could argue was close to that threshold has just been proven to be untrustworthy as well. That's the point I was trying to get too.

Okay so, slasher? friend mentally unstable, maybe killed someone?, 2 random girls who want to bone constantly? "main love interest" goes missing, but is at main destination out of nowhere, seemingly chilling, throwing a party?

Follow through with one thought please, some answers need to be given or something. because right now, to me Mei was the one that sabotaged the car, hell, Mei could also be the one who killed the old gf or that other girl (I dunno, I'm confused), but red herrings have been thrown out so often that I don't know what's going on.

I'm going to be honest, this isn't fun to read.
After reading this myself yeah, and cops just drop them off instead of going right to the cabin that prob isnt even 5 mins away

Lmao, i agree with Milton and think the bolting is kinda reasonable but yeah everything leading towards it and the whole situation was so bananas.

It didnt even created a tense feeling, i felt just annoyed about all this stuff. Not looking under the tarp, leaving your bags and the knife (!) behind and its rare that im annoyed about obvious "porn" elements ... but summer leaving her hoodie behind because of some branch ....... while its dark and cold ..... because they didnt had time to undo the hoodie .........

Rarely i was this annoyed about getting a better view on some nice tiddies :ROFLMAO:

Youre right about the Mei thing too, the dev trying so desperate to give us (another) sick twist but really, who the fuck cares about mei and all the random shit shes doing at this point anymore. Nobody knows this girl (apparently not even her friends), why would anyone care?

As far as im concered she could be three different characters randomly all with the same model until now, there is no consistency at all.

Alice will probably be the killer in the end after everyone else was suspicious in some way until than :BootyTime:

Even the killer mystery feels flat now as all these asshats including the mc can die for all i care

I think you all take it to serious, this seems like a cliche horror movie, where things happen, you have no idea why and the murder is.... the MC himself....
I mean, yes it's not a thriller, it's more a funny horror movie.

Possible, the thing is, i wouldn't even care...i'd still choose Alice
  • If she kills our psycho ''friend'', i'd thank her.
  • Danielle and Lea are just some easy (and very suspicious) thots, i really don't care about them, besides a fuck on the side. Not to mention trusting them.
  • Mei...don't know much about her, spend almost no time with her...but she is so in love with the MC (for years), that she is heartbrocken and gives up on him because my MC made some spicy food...and whatever shit she is doing now, don't care to be honest.
  • The ex...well yeah, something happened, somewhen, somewhere...don't care.
  • Summer is ok, so far.

I agree, it's always strange to me that so many comments trashing this seem to overlook the fact that this game is emulating slasher movies, its not just aping the average college sex comedy like so many other VNs

Slashers are full of absurd events, weird twists, unlikeable or immoral casts (though usually the protagonist isn't).

It's not a complete get out of free card for bad writing, but to me it puts a lot of more out there elements into context in a way that lets me enjoy them more

In slasher movies the real star and the main focus is usually the killer ( Freddy, Jason, Myers, Chucky, Ghostface, Pinhead, leatherface... ). All the bimbos are just dead meat. Here, let's be honest who give a fuck about the old fart or the simp friend ? We're here mainly for the pussies ( or boobs ).

We don't know who the killer is yet, or if there even is one. But the game is still borrowing heavily from the genre. So when characters act like immoral dicks or make dumb decisions, it doesn't bother me as much as it would for other VNs

Here's the thing: despite its marketing, it's not trying to emulate slashers. Hell, I'd argue outside of the basic atmosphere, it's not even inspired by slasher horror. If that were the case, we'd have a 'slasher' already: even without a victim and by that, I mean someone to keep the storylines connected and keep tension up. That was teased to be Alex but who knows at this point.

What Dreamland is actually emulating is a CW-style soap opera. The twist with Mei could've easily been a storyline from Pretty Little Liars, Danielle and Lea practically stormed off the set of Gossip Girl to this, and Summer and Alice may as well be romance leads from any of those shows: the girls you WANT the main boy to focus on since they're not two-faced at the moment. Even Jason's backstory could've come straight from One Tree Hill. Hell, ALEX's backstory has more in common with the teen drama genre than any slasher movie: especially with Danielle helping him keep his secret.

Now, if the dev wrote and promoted the game from that angle, I'd be willing to give it a bit more grace. But that still requires far more focus than it currently presents. Regardless of what the dev may want to do, at some point they must narrow in and do more than dole out Summer fanservice to keep this thing from falling apart.

I'm not sure what marketing you are referring to. The front page has a blurb about a horrifying mystery, but in AVN world that's much more likely to refer to a cabal of horny witches or sexy demons than to Michael Myers. I definitely didn't start playing this game expecting a slasher-inspired setting, but it is very obvious to me that that's what it is in-game, so it does that well.

The atmosphere, the camping in the woods, the shitty teenagers/young adults, the previously disappeared young woman.

That's all before we literally see one or more people stalking the cast, or the sabotaging of their equipment, the bloody knife, etc...

It's true that we haven't seen someone killed yet, but that's not that weird since this is still an adult vn where the players would rather have their mc sleep with the girls than see them killed, so if there is any killing it will be towards the end.

I don't watch CW soap operas, but the fact that they share similar types of drama doesn't make this not be slasher inspired. Slasher are full of shitty teens who are constantly horny, they will obviously be drama filled. Games can have multiple inspirations

Mei is the weirdest part of all this, from final girl hommage to whatever is happening now. I agree that her storyline is the one that most breaks the slasher vibe

Just gave this one a go (went as far as the prologue).

Right off the bat I dig the humor. Alex seems like a total bro!
The girls are quite pretty. Lea gives me Megan Fox vibes.
The camera panning is an interesting take, but it may be part of what makes the game so damn heavy (this is the first AVN I play that alt-tabbing takes some time to work).

Summer likes to show a bit more than expected, heh

An interesting prologue. Cool friends, road trip, dance festival... Excited to see more!

Mei saw her neighbor having sex on the first day of college! And immediately met MC - a coincidence? Maybe her neighbor Jacklyn?
Summer was Mei's old roommate, there's a possibility that the girl in that scene was Summer...

Of course it is more likely to be Jacklyn. When Mei approached the room, the door was already open, somehow Mc was there before Mei and in the shock of what he saw, he left the door open and walked away.
Mei seeing Mc crying in the garden right after this incident makes this scenario more plausible.

I'm also missing a couple Gallery Scenes: Chapter II - last one of the 2nd row & Chapter III - second one of 4th row. Any advice on paths to follow to unlock these?
