MOST people are stupid.
but not us eh? :KEK:

but since were doing it:
if you decide or not you consider the MC a jerk or not comes down to how you think someone ought to interact with others morality wise

Do you put others(mainly strangers) opinions/needs above your own & those close to you?

if you think the mc should change what hes says to avoid possibly hurting some strangers feelings or not:

The MC should do that! = yes he's a jerk
he should do it if its little or no effort/cost! = the mc is a jerk sometimes
no the MC should no change his opinions/actions to cuddle some strangers feelings = no the MC isn't a jerk

of course there are situations where it does make sense to call the MC a jerk:
After the rachel photo in the office scene,he gropes & teases cathrine in the classroom with rachel present.
here hes basicly using the leverage off their deal to not bother the MC & his girls anymore to do something he actually shouldn't be doing in the classroom.
which IMO is a jerk move.

But no in general i don't find the MC to be a "jerk" he has his moments but nobody's perfect.
In general hes been honest & fair even kind, people just have issue's with the HOW because to them that is more important then the action itself.

Very. And on a net forum it is easy to imagine that showing stupidity has no consequences.
To be clear, I'm not just referring to the people who don't think much of the MC.

Those who make a big deal about other people liking different things (like different character traits in an MC) are just as bad.

People have different opinions...That's a good thing. Accept it.

He admits he is jerkish to people who aren't his main group. despite that he is probably the nicest dominant MC I have seen in one of these
Yep agree on this one. We can see this with Allison, the baker and Allison's/Hannah's father whenever he's treated with respect he returns that respect.
I honestly don't see a problem being uncouth / unequivocal in response to being spoken to in a confrontational way. Since when is following "tit for tat" whenever you interact with strangers a jerkish thing to do. (Don't forget Mr. Takamura where he goes a bit southpark with him :KEK:)

People bring up the Rachel scene in the cafe but easily omit she was the first one to be confrontational with the MC. After all the shit she is giving the MC it is quite natural to shut her off.
Just take the position of MC and imagine what you would do if the girl from school who constantly annoys and harasses you comes into your cafe demanding to talk to you.

this is just wat happens when people have been exposed to braindead everyone-has-to-be-nice-or-they-are-bad-person for too long.
yeah they pushed it to much, best way to go about it is: everyone ought to be nice but you don't have, and you ought not to if its untrue or dishonest, but again don't have to.

I could write a long post on this, but I don't really want to open a can of worms.

The MC shows respect to people in a position of authority and/or power. That tempers when he gets to know them, and he redraws his behavioural norms around it. Take Allison out of her position, and his respect towards her drops (until he gets to know her).

He's 18. He's just lost the last member of his family (his mother is, at least as far as we know, not coming back). He's just uprooted himself and moved across the country. He's vulnerable, overly trusting, and has, through the chosen style (anime and manga derivative), had these parts of himself expanded out in unrealistic ways/to unrealistic proportions. (It's about as realistic as the girls falling for him more or less as soon as he spanks them once.) I'm not saying him being a jerk is justified, but he does jerk people around, act in the interests of himself and 'what's his' (the girls, as he 'claims' them), and is domineering. Given his past, and the style used in extrapolating him from draft form, none of this should be a surprise. But I absolutely agree that it's better than the standard 'build a harem by unzipping your pants' approach taken in other stories and games; there's a reason that, even though parts of it annoy me, I'm still reading my way through this when it updates.

It doesn't mean people are going to like his actions, or how his relationships form. We're 26 days in, and by the end of the first month he's likely to have four girlfriends. Most of us know that, particularly at that age, a relationship can easily form in a week, but most of us would probably not jump into one the same he has (even if we stripped away all of the potential consequences). It means anyone trying to self-insert, or holding onto certain aspects of conflict within the story universe, is going to struggle. (I'm not ashamed to say that I'm one who is hung up on certain early story conflicts, but I can get over them after they're explained.)
