Yep agree on this one. We can see this with Allison, the baker and Allison's/Hannah's father whenever he's treated with respect he returns that respect.
I could write a long post on this, but I don't really want to open a can of worms.
The MC shows respect to people in a position of authority and/or power. That tempers when he gets to know them, and he redraws his behavioural norms around it. Take Allison out of her position, and his respect towards her drops (until he gets to know her).
He's 18. He's just lost the last member of his family (his mother is, at least as far as we know, not coming back). He's just uprooted himself and moved across the country. He's vulnerable, overly trusting, and has, through the chosen style (anime and manga derivative), had these parts of himself expanded out in unrealistic ways/to unrealistic proportions. (It's about as realistic as the girls falling for him more or less as soon as he spanks them once.) I'm not saying him being a jerk is justified, but he does jerk people around, act in the interests of himself and 'what's his' (the girls, as he 'claims' them), and is domineering. Given his past, and the style used in extrapolating him from draft form, none of this should be a surprise. But I absolutely agree that it's better than the standard 'build a harem by unzipping your pants' approach taken in other stories and games; there's a reason that, even though parts of it annoy me, I'm still reading my way through this when it updates.
It doesn't mean people are going to like his actions, or how his relationships form. We're 26 days in, and by the end of the first month he's likely to have four girlfriends. Most of us know that, particularly at that age, a relationship can easily form in a week, but most of us would probably not jump into one the same he has (even if we stripped away all of the potential consequences). It means anyone trying to self-insert, or holding onto certain aspects of conflict within the story universe, is going to struggle. (I'm not ashamed to say that I'm one who is hung up on certain early story conflicts, but I can get over them after they're explained.)
