If there is any takeaway from the 5-ish years I have had this thread saved and the game on Steam, it's to never buy Early access games again.
Especially games that get that amount of funding through crowdfunding sites. They don't have an incentive to ever finish the game nor even make it complete enough. Better stall as long as possible and get that sweet patreon revenue each month.
A lot of adult games that are the top moneymakers on Patreon are like this, it's not a coincidence.

They don't even display the amount they gain monthly. On Grimdark's patreon (Masters of Raana, great game and the dev actually gives a shit) he's displaying it and it's a raw 17k a month for 1660~ supporters. Carnal Instinct has 4500 supporters and WildLife 9300 so you can imagine the moolah they're making and why they don't want to finish the game and stall development as much as possible.

That's just another grifty ass early access milking machine. :HideThePain:
well, at least there is regular updates on patreon page (not patron-locked) and they are adding new animation on a regular basis. I mean, WL team.

One of the problems of THIS team - dev's inability to be in touch. Working on new Aboobies temple? Post some sketches!Doesnt matter if its bad ones. Implementing new weapons? Show the model! No need for sexy stuff each day, just some hint of a progress for everyone to see. Trying to get story shit together? Say something about how hard for u to make no-brain "find-retrieve-return-lets fuck" quest. Meanwhile, last post on patreon\subs is from december 22. It's fucking march now!

I think I am done supporting this game. The devs keep making excuses for not delivering what they promise. I think if they keep doing that then they should disable their patreon and other payments until they are ready to start working on the game again. Even their website says they aren't going to be working on stuff for awhile because of "kids" now...as if all the devs have the same aged kids or something. And they also said they were taking a break from "crunch" but If there were "crunch" there would be some actual story content. The ue5 version still has nothing meaningful compared to the original ue4 version that they decided to abandon for Stutter Engine 5 aka Unreal engine 5.

TLDR if they want to take a long break (which they have and still are according to their last post on their website) then they should disable the donations until they are ready to start working on the game again instead of still taking money from people.

Can you point me to the post where they said they're going to stop working on the game and take a break? The latest post on their website is for the Christmas update where they said they decided not to do crunch time over the holiday period like they had done in prior years, and so were delaying some of the nearly complete content.

There's also been no indication that they're planning to break schedule on their Discord. No announcements of delays or anything like that, though Echo did post that his work in particular has been delayed but emphasized that it covers content that is several updates out from what we're soon to see:

Like, I get being disgruntled that the game updates slowly and unhappy with how thinly the content in UE5 is spread, but if you're equating "We’ve previously had a habit of working right upto (and including) Christmas day and honestly we decided that we needed to ease off a little this year." with "Even their website says they aren't going to be working on stuff for awhile" then maybe you should reevaluate your own work environment because the kind of hours they pulled the prior Christmas were obscene.

LOL sure bro their previous excsuse was their kids. Now they are pulling the typical "hospital" thing that literally every patreon creator does. Go to wild life and beasts in the sun. Same excuse for slow updates "so and so is in hospital" so either every patreon creator has the worst luck humanly possible (but only once slacking off) or they get lazy and just want to still keep taking money for as long as possible before finally trying to actually release the game. Even one of the devs for one of those games got caught lying since they didn't even have a wife and when they got called out they deleted the tweet.

we realised we weren’t going to be getting an interactive Drake or Naga into this update without pulling a serious amount of crunch (and even then it would be devoid of it’s lead-in quest).

We’ve previously had a habit of working right upto (and including) Christmas day and honestly we decided that we needed to ease off a little this year. Kids won’t stay small forever and some of ours don’t have many years left where it’s quite as magic; we didn’t want to sacrifice that to push out half-baked content. I hope everyone understands and it’s not too much of a letdown that you’ll have to wait a little longer to get your hands on the Naga and Drake.
So in other words you're saying it's the exact same news post that I directly quoted, from December, where they announced that some of the content originally announced in that update has been delayed to the next update (which is due within the next two weeks)?

And you're framing that as, and I quote:
Even their website says they aren't going to be working on stuff for awhile because of "kids" now...as if all the devs have the same aged kids or something.

Like I said earlier, there are plenty of reasons to be disgruntled with the devs of this game. The bugs and lack of QA, for one. The way content is spread far too thinly in the oversized UE5 map, for another. Their constant rearranging of the roadmap, and their inability to provide clear and consistent updates and communication on development status.

You don't need to make stuff up and lie in order to criticize these devs.

How is that a lie? You just listed the same thing but reworded it. The thin spread, the constant rearranging, no clear updates, communication, or development status...whilst ignoring the excuses constantly given for that. Why leave out the excuses? Why are you cherry picking? They gave excuses for all of that yet you ignore the excuses given. The excuses have been the typical "kids" and "hospital" excuses that EVERY SINGLE SLOW MOVING PATREON GAME MAKES. Hence me saying that either every single one of them has the worst luck of any human on the planet OR they purposely do this to get revenue for as long as possible purposely doing this insanely slow process. Its kinda funny that it never happens with AAA or AA game devs, it only happens with insanely slow PATREON ADULT GAMES. Maybe being a patreon dev is just cursed since everyone of them has the same word for word excuses.

Again, look at the parts of your post that I quoted:

These are lies. They are blatantly untrue. Even the portion of the news post you quoted in your now-deleted post disagreed with you on that front. There is no long break, there is no "aren't going to be working on stuff for awhile".

I'm not saying they don't have problems delivering content they've promised. They absolutely do have issues with scheduling, communication, and follow-through. What I am saying is that you don't need to lie about these developers in order to criticize them, because they offer more than enough points to criticize that are perfectly legitimate and grounded in reality.

When people are giving you patreon money they expect something in return other than "ooopsie we can't complete this part because -insert same thing everyone else says-" But keep giving us your patreon money and we will eventually start pushing out more content thanks for your understanding"

Dude I literally quoted what they said when they said it was because of their kids. I am done arguing. I love big tits and ass as much as everyone else, However I am not going to make excuses just because I like tits and ass. so many of these games do this crap. I will come back in a few months to see if they finally add some more story to the UE5 version.

I still will do what I said which is I am no longer going to support their patreon because I feel like I have gotten nothing in return. I could have saved my money on new PC parts. This game was the last straw for me when it comes to giving money to. I am constantly getting burned by patreon and gofundme games.

Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware

The devs for Carnal Instinct deliver on their promises for Patreon subscriptions, but anyone who actually reads the tier descriptions should realize that they don't promise much at all:

1742093148469.png

If you expected more than that when you subscribed, that's your own problem. Unless you've been subscribed since before they dropped the once-monthly and twice monthly update promises over a year ago, in which case you have my condolences for your loss.

You deleted the post where you quoted them, but kept the post where you misrepresented that quote and its context. That is not the same thing.

I am not arguing that these devs are providing quality results. The game is slapshod, the updates are slow, and the QA is nonexistent. There are plenty of things to complain about. That's why I'm taking exception to complaints that are flat-out wrong. Why are you building a new barn to shoot when one already exists and has very convenient targets already painted on its side?

We have a team big enough that we dont need to write about everyones individual sickness or issues with kids in update posts. Our guys are professional enough to deal with such issues discretely and privately. Also we never had anyone hospitalized for long enough periods of time to even consider mentioning it. So youre just talking out of your ass ... as always.

Just give it a rest. I am done arguing if you don't understand why people are getting worried when it comes to constantly giving money for projects that feel extremely slow / get to a certain point, cancel what is almost done, just to start over for a new engine/new project whilst still taking money from the people expecting the first project to be done before moving on, then I don't know what to tell you. You yourself would be pissed off if the roles were reversed and you 100 percent know it.

And I have no clue where you mean "as always" unless you mean upset people in general are talking out of their assess "as always" because this is my first time expressing my frustration. And if you go to your official pages you will see I am not the only one growing frustrated.

Dude, your "frustration" comes across as deeply entitled and immature due to your need to lie and misrepresent the dev's statements
