Now that Trump is in power and Project 2025 is in full effect, he may create a ban on the Porn industry in the U.S that would affect porn games aswell.
What would this mean for developers based in the U.S.?
Also, in which country is this site based just for clarifcation?

Based on what I believe the people that Trump support are consuming porn, even if they say otherwise (40 million consumer in the US). So he would hurt them. Also the online porn industrie in the US has a market size of and .

Hmm... Will I agree with the conclusion, when you say that it "would hurt them", have you followed the news since the starts of the year?

This being said, and to address OP worry, it depend how it's phrased. If he ban everything related to porn, then Patreon would be impacted, as well as Steam, because they wouldn't anymore be able to host such content.
If he just ban consumption, even if he also ban production, it wouldn't change much for the ~66% members of this forum that are not US citizens. Patreon and Steam would still be able to host them, as long as they don't show them to US users.

But, in the end of the day he'll probably not do it. Youporn have been banned in many states, due to its lack of age control, and it raised a lot of concern and complaint in MAGA circles. If he's a bit less idiot than it looks like, he will understand that banning porn would be a really bad idea.
He'll more surely go for a middle ground, saying that anything porn related must be strongly hidden. It would be enough to please the bigot part of his supporters while not actually harming his redneck army.

Anne is a man. Trump is a man. Wouldn't that be weird if Anne liked Trump? And also what would be the reason for that?
Also he is French and some, at least of some of his frenchmen (and women) demand that the .
I don't know if he is part of this group or not, regardless, I believe, I already know the answer to this question.
Non, bien sûr que non!

It totally depend on what perspective you want my answer to be.

As president of a country, he's the worst think that could have happened. And I really mean the worst, because even the most stupid African dictator knew that you can hurt your citizens but you must not hurt the country economy.

But as president of the USA, oh god what I love him, especially as an EU citizen and French... He started something the will be hard to revert. During his first presidency, the global thought was "the US have a dick as president", but now he turned it as "at anytime the US can have a president that shit on us".
Whatever how hard his successors will try to fix this, it happened once, then twice, anyone would be dumb to act as if it will not happen a third time, and that third time will be tomorrow.

But this is not a political thread, so I'll not extend more.

You're saying this because you're not neither an EU member nor French ;)

Remember our recent talk about weapons manufacturers? Who's in the best place to get the contracts that US manufacturers will not get thanks to their president?

Edit:
But I know that Anne doesn't like America.
I have nothing against America and Americans as a whole. But, yeah, I have few things against a certain mentality shared by a bit too many 'muricans.

I don’t live in the US, but I’m concerned about devs who do. Many projects could suffer if they start interfering in the porn industry.

Only time will tell how much this will negatively impact Americans and, by extension, the rest of the world.

Even if he wanted to, even if he tried to, he can't ban the porn industry. In order to ban it ANY proposal would have to go through the senate and congress and whether a bill or a law it would NEVER make it through both. IF by some miracle (for trump) and just for arguments sake it did make it through both, it would get tied up in a constitutional lawsuit and seeing as no president can serve more than 2 terms in office he wouldn't be president long enough to see it through.

Now even if it did make it through the senate, congress, the law suit and the supreme court ruled in favor of it, not all states would support it and some would still allow it.

So no matter what happens it will never be banned in the US, the best he could hope for is that some states might block some of it.

I wouldn't put much hope in the rule of law slowing Trump down. The courts are at best half-assing guard rails to blatantly anti-constitutional and illegal executive actions. There isn't an opposition party. America is a post law country.

The question of whether or not Trump wants to ban porn is trickier. His main thing right now has been handing over power to Elon Musk and the Mencius Moldbug weirdos who want to bring back feudalism. The Republican base cares more about jacking off about racism than banning porn. The x-factor I expect is the weird transphobia stuff. The tech psychos really care about being transphobic and were trying to gin up support for transphobia by tying the existence of trans people to porn.

Things are certainly quite interesting!

This is very true, it is a post law country BUT it is still very much a capitalist country and one heavily invested in selling the idea of the freedoms it's people have. This means that the billion dollar porn industry there has enough and will keep making enough money to fight it in the courts. The chances of it reaching them (the courts) though is slim because it is almost impossible to make it through both the senate and congress.

It's is also a very divided country and getting more so every year.

Yeah, it's also a country that had Prohibition enacted via a constitutional amendment (!!!)

So I don't know, I think i'll have better odds predicting a coin toss than what's gonna happen to US in the next 4 years.

true and I'd never use it as an example for my case because there is no indication they learned their lesson from it :(

That being said there is currently a good example : Sanctuary states
There are 11 Sanctuary states at the moment and they restrict cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

Now I am in no way comparing immigration and porn, only the act of restricting / refusing to follow federal orders.

This article could also help understand the situation and answer many questions

Yes, but prohibition was something different. It wasn't a move against alcohol consumption, but one decided to protect women, keeping them safe from the abuse due to their drank husbands. This while the ban on porn would be a move to protect peoples against depravity, keeping them safe from the call of Satan.

Yeah, forgot what I said, they are exactly the same...
