Unreal Engine How can I find an investor for a game?

Hi everyone, I'm an Unreal Engine game developer/designer.
I have quite a few ideas for games and I'm capable enough to make them but I lack funds to stay afloat.
So I was considering getting a job as an UE developer for a project and even got one. But suddenly the one who hired me couldn't find time to work on our project and abandoned it.
So I'm seeking to secure some funds to make a game by giving the investors 20% of the profit share.
And this thing obviously looks like a scam but think about it if I'm gonna scam I will be losing a larger profit compared to the investment.
(I'm still trying to get a job as a game dev but it has not been successful yet)
Do you guys have any ideas on how to proceed?
I like to show I'm sincere and passionate about making games but I have nothing as collateral to give other than my time and skills.
Or is it possible to raise money with just a first release?

why don't you try kickstarter? if you can convince people of the quality of your project, you can raise enough money to complete your game.

Kickstarter is only for US, my country is not allowed. But the irony is that I can support other devs in kickstarter.

no it isn't, pleanty of kickstarters are in europe and south america

you need alot more info though if you are looking for a real investor such as a plan on how to spend the money, roadmap, some kind of marked analysis.

honestly any of the above suggestions would most likely scare investors away, as it indicates crazy risk and suggest inexperience on your part

Write a detailed Game Design Document and form a roadmap for development. It should also specify where funds need to be allocated and why. Comb over it carefully to ensure it reads professional.

I'm not from either of those countries, as I said Kickstarter isn't an option for me. But yeah detailed documentation of game, roadmaps and proper bill makes sense.

which country you will be working from also matter to an investor should you default or simply run away with the money...

You are thinking about this problem backwards. You are trying to get funding first, and then start working on a game afterwards. What you should be doing is building a game first and then seeking funding for its continued development or for the finished product. No one is going to give money to a person with nothing to show, but they will gladly open their wallets for a game they like.

I don't think the promise of a 20% profit sharing for investing is going to matter much given the pitch being made. Whether you promised 20%, 50%, or 80% profit sharing, the first thing investors are going to look at are, "will this actually make any money to recoup my investment?". And for that, you actually need to have a game (whether in concept, prototype, or working product) that is worth investing in. That's why there are plenty of games that are being successfully crowdfunded with 0% profit sharing: because people love the game enough to pay for it outright.

That is where you should start: do everything you can to build a game worth investing in. You've shown small snippets of projects and have some game dev skills, but now you need to take it up a notch and make a full product that people would be willing to pay money for. Get a design doc going, make a prototype, and share it for marketing and player feedback. Build a team to work with you on this game, or widen your skills to cover everything yourself. And since you don't have any starting capital for this venture, accept that you'll likely have to self-fund the game as it gets off the ground. Only when you've done a lot of hard work will you start finding people willing to invest in your and your game.

MAYBE get a kickstarter if it's really good.
