Hello everyone!

So I've decided to try making a Visual Novel (again) and tried out DAZ 3d again and saw that we now have Genesis 9 for like a year or two.

My question is now what are the benefits of using Gen9? I mean the models and textures surely look better but other than that I don't see that many benefits so far. Like right now we have a limited amount of customization compared to Gen8 (without the scripts to convert from G8 to G9 I mean). So what's your guys opinions on it? Would you rather use G8 or G9?
I mean in the end I could just use the scripts to use G8 stuff on G9 but I really am unsure.

Thanks for the answers in advance.

If you are just starting out, you can start with the G9. Gradually the support for G8 will become less, but G9 already has almost full set of assets and morphs. The first year for G9 was bad - not many additions. This year I started to favor G9.

I'm not grumpy, I'm just coded that way.

Short answer:

Genesis 9 is gender neutral. The base model is male, and over it you apply morphs to get a female model. This mean that everything Gen 9, from clothes to hairs, passing by morphs, will natively match your model.

At the opposed, Genesis 8 are gender based, you have a male and a female model. Then the auto-fit system permit you to put male whatever (clothes, etc) onto a female model, and vice-versa. But for morphs you have to works more.

In the end, Genesis 9 offer more creation freedom. But for those who have already the habit to works with Genesis 8, it can be really disturbing.
