Username at top right of page > account details > Look down the sidebar on the left > Find "Delete Account". I believe it takes a few days to go through, but that's how you do it.

do what the post you quoted says?
if you're viewing the site on a phone or use the dark mode beta theme, the initial button will be shortened from avatar-username to just the avatar, and the sidebar on the left in account details may be hidden until you press the "your account" hamburger button.
missfortune isn't a staff member, and threads in solved subforum have zero visibility
